  1. Adobe subscriptions are a drain on the wallet but switching to open source tools often feels like learning to write with your other hand. PhotoGimp is a patch that remaps GIMP shortcuts to match Photoshop. It is a great PhotoGimp Photoshop alternative for keeping your muscle memory. I wrote a full breakdown on my blog here: gwizit.com/go/6wQa0DG

  2. PhotoGIMP is a free, open-source patch that makes GIMP feel much more like Adobe Photoshop.

It adds Photoshop-style keyboard shortcuts, a familiar workspace layout, reorganized tools, and a refined UI—helping Photoshop users switch without losing their workflow.

A great way to ditch subscriptions while keeping powerful image editing capabilities.

  3. If you are anything like me, and I know I am, you would, in your adventures with Linux, at some point feel the need for “photoshop” or “something similar” (you say).

Well, in all actuality, what you really MEAN is “actually photoshop”. So you try Gimp, only to realise that holy shit, you might be stuck on your PC/Mac for forever after all…

Enter PhotoGimp: https://photogimp.com which kind of turns Gimp in to a photoshop-like experience at least. As close as you can get, which for now will have to be good enough.

  4. My wife ended up going with EndeavourOS. I use Arch (btw) but I wanted her on something a little easier to learn as this is her first Linux experience, even though she has me for support.

She is an (amazing) artist and I wanted to make sure she had access to the latest tools and drivers, so access to pacman/aur was important.

I got her setup with most of her usual Windows applications (Discord, Firefox, Steam, etc) but also got her some new artist tool options like Gimp (with the PhotoGimp mod), Krita, Inkscape, and others. We're also experimenting with getting Clip Studio Paint to work through WINE.

  5. I have installed Gimp 3.04 and the PhotoGimp plugin that makes it look and feel more like Photoshop. Trouble is I haven't used Photoshop for nearly 20 years and have used Gimp since 2000. We'll see how it goes.#Photoshop #Gimp3 #PhotoGimp #LinuxMint

  6. Je découvre l'existence de PhotoGIMP, un patch pour que The GIMP se comporte un peu plus comme Photoshop.

  7. Ok, this is very specific : HELP

I'd like to install the #Beautify module/plug-in on my latest #Gimp version, on my Mac (also latest ver.) and, that's... well, I don't know how.

(I've done it on previous versions and I just installed G'mic without any hassle so I'm not too daft, but this time I'm losing it.)

    Any tip?

  8. Very happy to see PhotoGimp, which turns Gimp into Photoshop-like, still works fine with Gimp 3.0-RC1. I use it to edit my watercolor paintings (mostly contrast and colors, since my scanner is not accurate). You'd be surprised how much digital editors are used by traditional painters these days. Especially for commissions and book illustrations where clients want changes all the time.

  9. FOSStastic apps are everywhere! Here yet another cool project I’ve come across during my journey into and software. Please your favorite projects!
Next up: PhotoGIMP - A patch for optimizing GIMP 2.10+ for Adobe Photoshop users.

arranges your toolbars to more closely resemble the layout of Photoshop.
I don’t use Photoshop, but I found the PhotoGIMP layout to be more welcoming than the default GIMP STYLE.
