  1. Hey for any #HealthLaw tweep thinking about submitting to #HLP23, I am thinking about some kind of group or collaborative submission on #PHLaw

@[email protected] is wonderfully flexible and permits wide variety of formats (roundtable, panel, workshop, etc.)

    HMU if you're interested!

  2. A disproportionate share of the harms where LHDs and public health agencies are prohibited from actually governing for population health. #PHLaw matters for practical policy and advocacy!!!

  3. We just want to help, but I cannot understand how effective grass-roots policy and advocacy work can proceed if the recommendations for specific actors exceed sovereign legal authority.

Doing so is not only bad in its own right, but as #PHLaw scholars have been pointing out +

  4. It's remarkable that this "Analysis" of "Public Health Law" does not include any quotes or explanation from a single expert on -- you guessed it -- Public Health Law!

  5. I've been wondering for a while re the true state of public health law in the UK. Not medical law, but actual public health law. #PHLaw

  6. Be wary of the #medicalization of population health, for it's e-where. Here, an excellent new paper (gently) critiquing the Lancet-O'Neill Commission's Report on Legal Determinants of Health for positioning law as primarily important 2 HEALTH CARE #PHLaw

  7. @jonpainterphoto I've encouraged my students in #FDALaw #PandemicLaw #PHLaw to consider publishing their papers for my class. I often help them with the process! Submitting to law student essay contests is another option, as winning essays are often published.

  9. "As Top Scientists Say Concussions Can Cause C.T.E., These Sports Doctors Dig In"

I mean, this #ManufactureOfDoubt is literally #TheThirdBook. So you’ll have to forgive me for not saying more about it in a tweet. #PHLaw #PHEthx nytimes.com/2022/11/08/sports/

  10. I'm starting to understand why hashtags are so much more important on #Mastodon than the bird site. With that said, #academia, let's get #AcademicMastodon really going. So far #histodons are driving a lot of conversation and engagement.

    Let's get #PHEthx and #PHLaw going as well. #DisStudies, #DisHist, etc.

  11. Hi all -- new to Mastodon. I'm a professor who studies public health ethics, public health law, and history of medicine & public health (19th c. Americanist).

I do policy work, teach, design programs and curricula, and work closely with students.

Otherwise: I train Brazilian jiujitsu (about 9 years), love Star Wars, Batman, and coffee. I like to bake, esp. bread.
