I configured #chrony shipped with #ProxmoxVE to operate as a server and set up #DNS records on my router to point ntp[1-4].aliyun.com to the local IP of the #Proxmox node with chrony.

According to the internet, ntp[1-4].aliyun.com are 4 of 8 NTP servers used by #PhilipsHue bridge.

Then I blocked internet access for the bridge.

Now we wait and see if it works.

Solving all the issues I found one by one in my #homelab after a major internet outage.

Seems like the time sync issue on the #Philips #Hue bridge is ongoing. It pops out here and there periodically, and no general solution has been found.

It's not a big deal until you are using time-based scenes, like me.

So now I'm trying to trick the bridge into using my local #NTP server.

I'm back online from the longest internet outage in my life - 19 hours!
Have no idea what was broken on my #ISP side, but guess that was something huge.

A lot of things went wrong while offline. I had #HomeAssistant connection issues on #iOS. I had #Plex issues playing something. I even had issues with #PhilipsHue lights, because the time on the bridge switched to something completely unrelated to reality.

My #homelab was not prepared, but lessons were learned.

Signify na CES 2026 rozwiązuje dwa największe problemy swojego ekosystemu.

Po pierwsze: sceny świetlne przestaną być losowym zbiorem kolorów i zaczną „rozumieć” przestrzeń. Po drugie (i dla nas ważniejsze): kamery Hue Secure wreszcie w pełni zintegrują się z Apple Home.

SpatialAware – koniec z losowaniem kolorów

Do tej pory, gdy włączaliście w aplikacji scenę „Zachód słońca” czy „Soho”, system losowo przypisywał zdefiniowane kolory do poszczególnych żarówek. Efekt bywał różny – czasem świetny, a czasem chaotyczny, z plamami niepasujących barw obok siebie.

Nowa funkcja SpatialAware (dostępna wiosną 2026) to zmienia. System wykorzysta informacje o fizycznym rozmieszczeniu świateł w pokoju (które i tak podajemy przy konfiguracji stref rozrywki), aby logicznie rozprowadzić gradienty. Dzięki temu scena ma wyglądać naturalnie – np. ciemniejsze barwy przy podłodze, jaśniejsze przy suficie, lub płynne przejście kolorów z lewej do prawej strony pokoju. To mała zmiana w sofcie, ale wielka w odbiorze wizualnym.

Kamery Hue Secure w Apple Home

To wiadomość, na którą czekali wszyscy użytkownicy HomeKita, którzy zainwestowali w system bezpieczeństwa od Hue. W pierwszym kwartale 2026 roku kamery Hue Secure oraz czujniki otwarcia otrzymają pełne wsparcie dla Apple Home.

Co to oznacza w praktyce?

• Podgląd wideo bezpośrednio w aplikacji Dom (bez wchodzenia do apki Hue).
• Powiadomienia systemowe na iPhone’a i Apple Watch.
• Możliwość podglądu obrazu z kamer na Apple TV.

Łatwiejsza przesiadka na Bridge Pro

Hue puszcza też oko do „power userów”, którzy w domu mają setki żarówek. Udostępniono narzędzie do migracji z wielu starych mostków Hue Bridge na jeden, potężniejszy Bridge Pro. Jeśli do tej pory żonglowaliście mostkami, teraz scalicie system w jeden organizm.

Dodatkowo aplikacja zyskała wsparcie AI przy tworzeniu automatyzacji. Zamiast przeklikiwać się przez menu warunków „jeśli/to”, można teraz po prostu napisać (lub powiedzieć) własnymi słowami, co ma się stać (np. „Zgaś wszystko w salonie, gdy włączę telewizor po 22:00”), a asystent sam utworzy odpowiednią regułę.

Have been switching my #HomeAssistant setup from ZHA to #zigbee2mqtt - a long process, but bringing various rewards. I'm delighted to discover that there's support for my beloved original Hue Tap switches. These use the somewhat rare Zigbee Green Power standard, and harness energy from the button press so don't need batteries. (They were the main reason I was still keeping my #philipshue hub despite their recent changes to the Ts & Cs.)

Nice #openrgb with the effects plugin has an ambient effect that captures the screen and uses the average color information to control LEDs.

You also need the visual map plugin so that you can define which LED should react to what square on the screen.

This replaces the philips hue app on linux. And as an added bonus works with many other LED lights.

It also works with games. Tested it with the beautiful stars and nebulas in #avorion

#christmas lights control are on the fridge now.

I wanted to print icons for three buttons, but the sticker size turned out too big for smaller buttons. Cutting stickers was out of the time estimates for this task.

It was a success! 49 from 51 devices migrated successfully from an old Hue Bridge to a new Pro one. Two remaining devices (tap dial and dimmer switch) were in fact also moved. I just needed to re-pair them, and all its settings were restored.
#HomeAssistant integration was not affected at all.

@itgrrl I recommend SMLight SLZB-06 (no additional characters). It works well with #homeassistant via #zigbee2mqtt and interfaces with several brands like #philipshue. It can be connected via USB or network which makes it very flexible (e.g., if you run #homeassistant in a #vm like #proxmox).

The walls at my current place are killing me. Well, they're killing the #ZigBee signal strength. Some of them are 50 cm thick. Some distant #Hue switches and lights can be very laggy.
I decided to move the bridge closer to the geographical center of the apartment. And why not upgrade at the same time?

Ordered a Hue Bridge Pro and a PoE splitter for it. Will power it from a #UniFi #PoE Switch. Time to make things work properly =)
