Oprah Winfrey stond stil bij de dood van talkshowhost Phil Donahue. Maandag werd bekend dat de Amerikaanse presentator op 88-jarige leeftijd is overleden. Winfrey deelde op Instagram een foto samen met haar collega-talkshowhost.

I was surprised to learn that recently deceased #PhilDonahue (RIP), and his lovely wife #MarloThomas, were only two years apart in age.
I had always thought that Phil had “robbed the cradle”, so to speak. But Phil’s hair went gray at a relatively early age.
And as you can see in this photo from 32 years ago, when they were both in their mid-50’s, Marlo Thomas looked amazing for her age.

If you were at home during the day in the 1980s, it was hard not to get sucked into an episode of “Donahue,” watch for a bit, and maybe become a devoted viewer. The show gained popularity while touching on social issues that could be difficult for some to address, such as child abuse, feminism, and race relations. His success also paved the way for an array of other talk shows.
