  6. Improving the photosynthetic efficiency of crop plants has the potential to sustainably increase yields up to three-fold. However, conventional breeding for increased photosynthetic efficiency is tedious and slow due to a lack of reliable and high-throughput methods to assess crop photosynthetic efficiency in the field. In our most recent paper, we present a method to change this by mounting a light-induced fluorescence transient (LIFT) photosynthesis sensor onto an autonomous field robot. Check it out:

Touché! I meant only to speak to Snowden's quote, for a violent extinction of Homo Neanderthalis probably would be biological racism, but I think there are any number of other things that their extinction could have been, like disease-burden or out-breeding.

You're right of course, the Peri-Mediterraneans were pretty cool about most things. I think they might have thought slightly ill of left-handed people.

If Snowden is making sweeping statements about "the ancients" though, I think a careful tread is advisable, if I'm right to suspect that the "ancient" Sumerians would think someone with pale skin to be sickly and frail, and the "ancient" Chinese would associate darker skin tones to be associated with manual labour.

To be explicit: (1). this has no bearing on your long held and doubtless correct view, and (2). I am *wildly* outside my wheel-house here; and I'm only really saying that such sweeping terms of generalisation make one's quotes less useful. I can't imagine Snowden cares one jot about my criticism, though! 😅
