  1. Finally playing Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass for the DS. Whose idea was it to make the game completely touch screen controlled? Because I would like to meet them so I can slap them so hard they travel back in time to before making the game so they can not do that. It is such a terrible way to play a Zelda game.

  6. I did my first sub art request stream! The first one I did was for @AstralK featuring their gijinka of Bellum from Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

  10. Final thoughts on #PhantomHourglass -

I think I loved it? Lots of very cool usage of the DS and its abilities, very fun and unique boss battles, Linebeck might be my favorite character ever, and dare I say, they made wandering the ocean actually fun?

I can't speak to the control scheme just yet. My experience with it wasn't great because i'm here using a mouse or a trackpad. When I get started on Spirit Tracks, I'll be using the actual DS to play it so I'll have a better opinion on how the controls really felt.

Overall, I'm actually really surprised by how much I enjoyed it, especially as this one started to feel like a drag (which I think was honestly the emulation problem)

Anyway, Spirit Tracks is up next. That'll begin once my copy arrives, should be this weekend. There's only *checks notes* 5 games left, counting both BotW and TotK.

Been a pretty wild ride actually 👀

  13. #PhantomHourglass is finished! Finally, right? The main reason it took so long is because I was emulating it on a laptop, and my available time for that went way down lately. From here on out, every Zelda game is playable on DS or on Switch, so I should be moving way faster! I went out and found an actual copy of Spirit Tracks so I don't have to emulate that one too. That'll get here later in the week.

  16. #PhantomHourglass looks like it may be trouble, at least in my ability to play it.

I don’t have an actual copy (it’s like $50 used?!?), so the only option is to emulate. The problem is that one of the mechanics is to blow into the microphone. The emulator I’ve been using (OpenEmu with desmume core) has a “mic button” but it just emulates a puff, not a sustained blow like a lot of things in the game need.

So after switching to using desmume proper instead of just the core, it looks like things will work. Managed to “blow” the dust off the second sea chart so that’s probably the best test I can do.

After restarting the game and getting to that point on a different emulator, I discovered that my sister has a copy I could borrow hahaha! The question is if I want to replay the beginning of the game for a third time and I’m not feeling it…

Rolling is also weirdly hard without a stylus
