Nochmals im Züri-Zoo (2)
Vom Elefantenhaus zog es mich zur Masoala-Halle. Auf diese Halle ist der Zoo sehr stolz, da sie einem Dschungel auf Madagaskar nachempfunden ist und sich sehr viele Tiere frei darin tummeln können. Da sie sehr gross ist, haben die Tiere auch entsprechend viel Platz, um sich frei zu tummeln.
Das letzte Mal, als ich die Masoala-Halle besucht hatte, war ziemlich frustrierend gewesen: Auf dem Baumwipfelpfad hatte es gegen 40°C gehabt, die Luftfeuchtigkeit gegen 100% betragen, und Tiere sah ich keine.
Sie sollte nochmals eine Chance erhalten. Ich betrat die Halle. Heiss. Feucht. Gefühlt leer. Hier und da ein Spatz: Ein wahrhaft sehr exotisches Tier. Auf dem Baumwipfelpfad noch extremer: Heiss. Feucht. Doch Moment: Hier flogen kleine rote Vögel hin und her. Rotkardinäle, wie ich später nachlesen konnte. Immerhin. Weit und breit nichts von den Lemuren, die da irgendwo waren und die man laut einem Schild nicht füttern durfte, und auch sonst nichts.
Wieder am Boden angekommen, wollte ich bereits unverrichteter Dinge abziehen. Die ach so wunderbare Fauna der Masoala-Halle hatte sich mir nicht offenbart. Bis mich eine Gruppe Zoobesucher förmlich mit der Nase darauf stiess: Da oben, vielleicht fünf Meter entfernt, lieferte sich ein Rotkardinal mit einem Gecko ein merkwürdiges Hin und Her. Wobei ich vorerst den Vogel sah, aber den Gecko nicht – bis man mir wirklich genau schilderte, wo ich hinschauen sollte. Ein faszinierendes Geschöpf, solch ein Gecko!
