Yesterday I've met a fellow #vintagelens lover who took the game to another level. He designs his own lenses with old concepts. Like this #Petzval type with a nice soft focus, heavy swirl like a projection lens but with aperture. Just wow.

Lens nerdery today. These are snaps taken by an old soviet era projection lens the #35KP 120mm f1.9. This is the 4 element #Petzval version. In the reply you can see the lens - it's huge. I adapted it with a 3d printed adapter in two parts. The lens holder screws into the camera adapter to provide focus. It's wild - and the adapter needs more work.

After several months of difficulty, and quite a few prototypes, I've got a working 3d printed lens board to mount my extremely antique Voigtlander Petzval to my slightly antique 4x5 view camera. You might notice that the brass flange overhangs the mounting area of the camera, so the lens board has to be modeled to provide extra standoff distance there.
