"Two popular pet food companies — Raw Bistro Pet Fare and Foodynamics — have issued voluntary recalls of multiple dog and cat food products over a risk of salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced earlier this month in separate press releases.

Raw Bistro Pet Fare of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, issued a Oct. 10 recall of two sizes of its frozen beef dog food: "Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Frozen” in 3-pound bags and “Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Bulk, Frozen” in 18-pound cases.

Meanwhile, Foodynamics of Wales, Wisconsin, issued an Oct. 9 recall of multiple varieties of its freeze dried pet treats sold under the brand names #RawDogBarkery, #BellePepperCats, #KanuPets and #WhatsInTheBowl.

Both recalls come after FDA samplings of the products revealed the presence of salmonella. No adverse health effects have been reported in pets or humans to date, the FDA said.

"It’s almost that time of year again! We are excited to host our third annual pet food drive for No Bowl Empty Pet Food Pantry in Waterboro. In an effort to collect as many donations as possible, we’re teaming up with other local towns to see who will collect the most donations!

Last year, the Town of Buxton donated 991 POUNDS of dog and cat food plus other much-needed pet supplies to help our furry friends in York and Cumberland counties. We are hoping to donate over 1,000 pounds of food this year! Donations can be dropped off at Buxton Town Hall beginning Monday, September 29th. Donations will be accepted through Tuesday, November 4th (Election Day).

The historic catch amount occurred due to the lapse of a key #conservation regulation requiring the fishery to distribute fishing over a larger geographic area.

"Krill is at the base of the #FoodChain in Antarctica and increasing demand from companies seeking to sell fishmeal, #PetFood and #DietarySupplements has led to a spiraling increase in catch. International negotiations at CCAMLR, the body charged with conserving marine living resources in Antarctica, broke down last year, resulting in lowering of protections related to krill catch. This reduction in protection allows the entire krill quota to be caught in a very small area, increasing impacts to krill predators – #penguins, #seals, and #whales – that depend on krill to survive.
