@sam #FoxNews is viewed a bit more favorably AFAIK, despite running a bit of opinion shows at night and letting it bleed into the daytime programming over the past few years, largely because they've done a great job of retaining their news division's talent and spotlight (i.e. utilizing #BrettBaier for straight news, replacing #EdHenry with #PeterDoocy and continuing to utilize him, and replacing #TheKellyFile's timeslots with straight news shows rather than opinion programming). #CNN used to do this years ago with #WolfBlitzer and #AndersonCooper pulling combined five hours at least each weekday IIRC, but while they're still around, much of their spotlight has been stolen by inferior talent such as #JimAcosta and #DonLemon. There are folks like #DanaBash are pretty underutilized, even #JakeTapper should have more airtime IMHO.
#MSNBC would be a good model for #CNN to emulate, they have done a great job of giving the actual news people a space to breathe between #MSNBCLive (which unfortunately much of the opinion folks have co-opted/infiltrated but is nonetheless still a good news show AFAIK) and #NBCNewsNow, which is criminally underrated. Unfortunately, #CNN neither has the clear branding separation of its news and opinion folks that #MSNBC has, nor the track record of consistently airing straight news alongside opinion programming like #FoxNews has, so they'd have a hard time convincing viewers that their pivot to hard news is legit even if it happens. -
