🎨 So, some folks think it’s groundbreaking to teach kids about Peruvian art in 1926, because clearly, children need more history lessons on things they can’t draw. 🔍 Meanwhile, the rest of the world is just trying to figure out why anyone thought this was a story worth writing—spoiler alert, it wasn't. 😂

The Spatula with Carved Lizard reveals the deep cultural significance of coca in Peruvian tradition. Beyond utility, it embodies artistic mastery and the connection to nature. How do you think ancient artifacts still resonate in modern practices?

Admire the Moche 'Llama Vessel' at #ClevelandMuseumofArt: a blend of form and function, representing a vital Andean creature. Is it symbolic of sacrifice, utility, or mountainous lifeblood? What do you think?

I came across this painting today while browsing in a catalogue of an exhibition on Latin American art from the colonial era.
I have never seen this iconography of the Christian Trinity before. Apparently it originated in trecento Tuscany, but fell out of favour after its condemnation by the Council of Trent. Nevertheless its use continued in Latin America.
A salutary reminder to Christians of how bizarre their beliefs may seem.
