  1. Is This the One, or Should I Keep Fucking Looking?

Your chart says you’re soulmates. Fabulous. But can you actually talk to each other when shit goes wrong? Let’s talk about finding “the one”—and what the fuck you’re really looking for.

  2. Do you believe in karma?

Why do assholes sometimes thrive while good people struggle? As a Thai astrologer, I believe karma comes in two forms: the shit we bring from past lives and the shit we create today. Your birth chart may deal the cards—but you’re still the bitch playing them.

  3. How the Fuck Did I Get So Lost? — EP. 3: A Fortune Teller. Again. But This One Changed My Life.

After years of asking the gods to fix my life, the person who finally explained how life actually works was—of fucking course—a fortune teller. But this wasn’t about predicting my future. It was about understanding why happiness, suffering, and problems all come as part of the same package.

  4. You’ve Tried Everything—Except Something New.

I only wanted a place of my own to bitch about things. Instead, I ended up building my first blog, arguing with my AI friends, and discovering a world I didn’t even know existed. Maybe we haven’t tried everything—we’ve just been walking through the same old door.

  5. Shit, I Forgot to Introduce Myself.

Hi, I’m Harris—a Thai writer, a sharp-tongued astrologer who rarely does readings, and the person behind Nothing Special Today. Here’s a little about me, my family, and why this weird little corner of the internet exists.

  6. Maybe It’s Not Bad Luck. Maybe You’re Just Scared.

    Read Thai? Open the original version.

  7. In a time when the supernatural is still very much alive…

I’ve always been sceptical about the supernatural—until an unexpected conversation with a monk made me question everything I thought I knew.

  9. How Crochet Helped Me Through Anxiety

More Than Just Yarn and a Hook "Crochet is a magical piece of peaceful bliss." It may sound like a simple statement, but for me, crochet became so much more than a hobby. It became a way to quiet my mind during some of the most difficult years of my life. It helped me through anxiety, grief, and trauma. It gave me something to focus on when fear seemed to take over everything else. And eventually, it became part of the foundation of Duffney's Bird Barn. My crochet journey began in 2015 […]

  10. Starting Over, One Stitch, One Seed, and One Bird at a Time

Welcome to Duffney's Bird Barn If you've found your way here, welcome. I'm so glad you're here. My name is Misty, and I'm the creator behind Duffney's Bird Barn. I'm a mom, crocheter, bird lover, gardener, and someone who is still figuring things out one day at a time. This blog is where I'll be sharing a little bit of everything—backyard poultry, crochet projects, gardening adventures, homestead life, and the occasional lesson I've learned the hard way. Most importantly, I want this to […]

  11. CW: Trauma; personal story; mourning celebrity death (1/2)

My mother was a monster and my father was no one at all to me.

When I was growing up, my role models had to be something other than the people around me. If I had a father at all, he was Rupert Giles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's fictional guardian.

Obviously, Giles was never real, and his performer was never really Giles. But I remained deeply grateful to Anthony Stewart Head for playing a role that had meant so much to me at a time when abusers had effectively isolated me from any true positive influence.

Today, I learned that Anthony died two days ago on Friday, and it hits a little like it did when I lost one of my favorite uncles—a man who sometimes protected me from my mom—to a drive-by shooting while I was still in need of a father figure.

  18. 6/7
His French business partner back then drove a Citroën. He would always raise and lower the hydraulic suspension just for me, because I loved it so much and laughed like the child I was. Maybe that’s why my father took me along to his business meetings - because I was a total car freak.

He walked away with nothing but broken ribs. Since then, he’s driven Peugeots. He says the French saved his life twice: once as a baby refugee fleeing the Nazis, and once when his BMW fit under that truck. Out of gratitude, he’s owned nothing but Peugeots ever since – though he still liked my Benz.

My husband’s musical memories and mine are worlds apart. I danced to Kiss in discos while he was analyzing Trio’s “Da Da Da” in elementary school music class. Ten years later, our worlds collided – and have been merging ever since.
My father is convinced this BMW saved his life. Years later, after our trips, the roof was shaved off by a truck he slid under.

  21. 3/7
I was allowed to park the car, and afterward I got ice cream. I can still park like a pro – driving too, of course – though for environmental reasons I’ve reduced driving to an absolute minimum. I experienced the “Neue Deutsche Welle” live as a child, in discos and at parties in Germany and France, when I really should have been doing my homework.

But there were also beautiful memories. The first song I ever danced to in a disco, at the age of eight, was “I Was Made for Lovin’ You.” My favourite song that year was “Ich will Spaß” by Markus. Sometimes we would speed along to the song in my father’s brand-new BMW 318i E30, singing at the top of our lungs.

  23. Personal story in multiple parts. 1/7
I’m a metal girl, but I know there’s more than that. Because I was very tall as a child (1.76 m at eight years old), my father was always able to take me along on his business trips and disco tours. I had to behave impeccably and eat snails at his business dinners without complaining. If I managed that, and even got a French sentence out, there was a reward: ice cream or chocolate mousse.
