As more software companies switch to renewing subscription licenses and dump the older per-version #perpetual #license, I’ve noticed that my app spending has also been decreasing as I’ve shedded off a few pieces of software that I used to rely on.

But I have to be the outlier if so many developers are switching to a #subscription models. I can’t imagine companies would switch to it if it wasn’t proving to be a successful means of generating revenue.

which has drawn widespread criticism from customers.

Broadcom stated it would continue to support customers under a #perpetual #licensing #agreement for the period defined in the contract,
but following this customers would need to exchange any remaining licenses for #subscription-#based products.

This has left both cloud service vendors and customers in limbo, according to CISPE, without any solid information on how, when, or if they will be able to license VMware products essential for their operations from April 2024.

Moreover, even if they are able to relicense the VMware software, a number of customers reported dramatic #price #hikes of as much as 12 times.

I pulled a test bowl of the first run of #perpetualstew.

It is... delicious.

It has an interesting depth to it-- I'm assuming because most of the base was peppers and mushrooms. There's jalapeños in there that you wouldn't necessarily realize were there... until their heat hits the back of your tongue.

But it isn't a bad heat-- just one that adds another layer of complexity to the broth itself.

And not to mention... the broth is so CLEAR. the only real word I can use to describe it is clear.

Also its finally time for me to go to seep... at 720am.

At almost midnight, I decided to take on the Perpetual Stew challenge.
