Does anyone have any inside info on DeleteMe buying PermissionSlipCR from Consumer Reports? I got this email from them about it.

I cancelled my DeleteMe subscription a couple years ago when Consumer Reports started Permission Slip data deletion service. Partially because it was way cheaper ($20 vs. $100+ IIRC) but mostly because DeleteMe filled their site with trackers! FFS! I hassled them on old Twitter about it and then sent them emails asking about it. Never got a single response.

So, today I checked and according to TheMarkup.org's Blacklight tool, DeleteMe removed their trackers (except for Cloudflare's browser fingerprinting tracker). Okay, cool. But now Permission Slip has trackers.

I hate all of this so much.

  2. 🚨 Alert! 🚨 #Sandboxes won't save you from OpenClaw! Because, duh, sandboxes aren't magical force fields. 🧙‍♂️ Clearly, what we need is not more sand, but a new permission slip system to stop our AI overlords from going rogue. 🙃🔒

  3. #California Sues Data-Harvesting Company #NPD , Enforcing Strict #Privacy Law - Slashdot

California's attempt to regulate the industry inspired the nonprofit Consumer Reportsto create an app called #PermissionSlip that reveals what data companies collect and, for people in U.S. states, will "work with you to file a request, telling companies to stop selling your personal information."

  4. Speaking of opting out…
Check out this awesome new resource from #ConsumerReports to automate the process of submitting data deletion requests! #PermissionSlip is such a cool thing 💖

  5. Obviously the USA needs a #GDPR, something like the #ADPPA maybe? In the meantime, #PermissionSlip by Consumer Reports has been working great for me and nuking data brokers that have scrounged up my data. Thanks to the #CCPA you don’t have to be a California resident to get results. But it’s all a bandaid to actual #DataRights for America. apps.apple.com/us/app/permissi

  6. #ConsumerReports has created an application called #PermissionSlip which sends requests for #OptOut or #DataDeletion based on your state laws.

I love CR and this is an awesome service they’ve created. I used it, it has a list of about 4 dozen companies and some requests to data aggregators. They send requests to the appropriate departments.

  7. @glidingbird It's part of a #privacy toolset. Another part is #globalprivacycontrol #gpc to opt out if you visit a domain. An authorized agent like #PermissionSlip from #ConsumerReports can handle apps, companies you deal with offline, and data brokers you don't have a direct connection to
