"My heart is glad," she replied. "You overcame the dread monster, then."

He straightened proudly. "With but a single blow!"

"Not *too* dangerous, then?"

"That deed was not, but—"

An enraged miaow came from the box.

"—persuading His Mousership to return needed true fortitude." He fingered a vicious scratch on his face.
