I'm excited to share that my new book, Performance Engineering in Practice, is now available through Manning's Early Access Program! 🎉
For 25 years I've seen the same pattern: performance problems surface after users complain, teams panic, patch, and repeat. I call it the Performance Decay Cycle.
This book is the practical guide to breaking that cycle. First 5 chapters available now with 50% off at launch 🚀

Back in 2017, Yao Yue embarked on an exciting journey, joining a brand new team at #Twitter - Performance Engineering, aka the IOP Team.
This team made waves over the next 5 years: saving Twitter over $100M creating some of the largest data processing jobs owned by infra, driving multiple company-wide initiatives, and releasing multiple open source projects and publications.
Listen to this #InfoQ talk as she reflects on this experience, sharing invaluable insights on effective #PerformanceEngineering: https://bit.ly/49JSLmy
Spoiler alert: it's all about platform building!

Great post from @nelhage on profilers, how memes say you should use them, and how expert performance engineers actually use them.

It was a pleasure to chat with Chris and Nate about #performanceengineering and SRE. It's got a bit of everything... the way performance engineers are pigeon holed into load testers, getting to the essence what #SRE is and how to apply the concepts in any organisation.

#introduction time... I'm Stephen, a DevRel at SquaredUp. I did #PerformanceEngineering for a long time, then moved to #sre more recently. I host the #SlightReliability podcast, blog, and speak at events. I'm also doing some engineering work internally.
I live in New Zealand. Married with two kids, two dogs, and a cat. I trained to be a professional actor but that didn't work out as a career. I enjoy video games (especially #DeepRockGalactic) and #dnd
