  1. The first Epimediums are starting to flower in the (recently expanded) woodland perennial section of our garden at Tilba Tilba. This is not a garden I have much to do with at all - and I don't really know for sure what varieties they might be - but I still really enjoy them every year! A few more went in this winter so looking forward to what might come out later in the season.

  6. The fallen seeds from the Thai Red Roselle I planted last year volunteered this summer and they are nice, verdant and bushy from all of the rain we’ve been getting. #Perennials are a must for me in the garden. You put in effort one year and, if all goes well, you reap what you sewed for years to come.

The other plant is Davis green cotton, also a hibiscus relative. It’s the very first flower on this plant. I can’t wait to see a green cotton boll. #gardening #Florida #Zone10

  7. My gloved hand, for scale.
This magneta dahlia is taller than me, I had to pull a large branch down to take this photo. It's still blooming with more petals to unfurl.
It is big, bold & beautiful!

  8. Root well and deeply, little huechera. Winter will be here sooner than we think.

  9. The squirrels dug up this Huechera (Coral Bell) 3× and left it for dead, a tiny, shrivelled-up thing. I've been nursing it back health on my windowsill with a custom soil mixture, and I think it's time to put it back outside so that it has time to build deep roots before winter. 🤞 (I will put chicken wire around it.)

  10. Next up. Blooms & buds from plants that I propagated from cuttings & root splitting.

2 different roses - both propagated from Jubilee Hospital gardens cuttings, 3 years ago.
Yucca flower buds - from helping a former neighbour, when I lived in Cedar, split up their overgrown yucca plant. I put several in front of my old place (for future tenants to enjoy) & brought some back to plant here. That was in May of 2019. They just started to flower, this year.
