Television and images can be incredibly powerful tools. They can inform us, but they can also become vehicles for misinformation and, in more extreme cases, deliberate disinformation.

In China, on screen we see crystal blue water, carefully framed shots and an almost perfect representation of reality. Yet looking at the actual setting of the rowing competition reveals a different picture: a brown, muddy waterway telling a far less polished story.

The gap between what is shown and what actually exists can sometimes be the result of a camera angle, editorial choices or the way a narrative is constructed.

That is why one thing is always worth remembering: not everything we see is false, but not everything we see represents the whole truth.

Perception: a Pit Bull is a bloodthirsty breed just waiting to maim or kill everyone, based on media reports.

Reality: all escape artist (read escaped loose) Pit Bulls, and neighbors' Pit Bulls, are more interested in meeting new people and dogs and making new friends, based on actual experience.

This is based on many years of experience before adopting Stevie, and she holds true to that. Aggression is a learned behavior.
