We recently had several Pentium 4 systems dropped off. Last I installed Linux on a Pentium 4 was way back in the CentOS 4.8 days. Set up the other PC I had in the closet. Another old Dell (I thought it had Windows 2000, it's XP). I last actively used it around 2012-2013. Plugged it up, works, clearing off garbage software (Chrome!) I discovered that in true music freak form, I forgot I have like ~20GB of great music mp3s on here. Add the more recent stuff from my phone, I'll be almost back up to speed. Today's playlist is wild. I still listen to like 80-90% of it. Check the old apps in the 2nd pic before I deleted Tweetdeck, etc! 🤣 The BlackBerry one stays forever. 😍

We did a lot of cleanup this week-end at #Fabrico and we'll give out most old PCs that we don't need, but I'll keep these Elonex machines for our collection as we have the matching 17 inch CRT, two mice and a keyboard. Some parts are moderately yellowed but overall good condition.

The second tower doesn't work, CPU seems fried and the heatsink bracket is broken anyway, I'll have to redesign and 3D-print maybe…

He told me to put that damn computer (Pentium 4) in the trash and I could not fix it.
I do not care what people think, I fixed it and installed the #antiX Linux with #fvwm window manager.

If you are a Linux user, you can work with any old computer.

I found a plethora of old tech in the corner of the garage. I had enough bits to build a #pentium4 system, 2.5 G memory, 250Gb Sata hdd drive, and a 10/100 nic.

I was able to #pxe boot it, loaded #debian with #fai (https://fai-project.org).

Wondering if I can find a use for this thing.

J'ai des #ordinateurs à la cave, récupérés il y a quelques années (ils passaient pas à windows 7). J'en ai utilisé plusieurs, j'en ai donné, .. Mais aujourd'hui, je n'en ai plus l'utilité.

J'ai un peu de mal à l'idée de les jeter mais ils sont à #donner. C'est pas de la machine de compet' mais pour tester des trucs ou pour un usage simple, ça passe. ( #pentium4 .. )

Ps: je n'envoie pas par la poste (!!) et j'habite dans le Brabant Wallon, en Belgique.
