Yesterday, we went down to Eastbourne to watch *The Beachy Head World Championship Penny Farthing Hill Climb Time Trial*. I hate to think how these riders must have suffered towards the middle of the route when the inclines are seriously hard. I don't have the wherewithal to attempt the route even on my MTB much less on a fixie...

We were joined by a #pennyfarthing at the august #criticalmass. It was so amazing to see a symbol of Victorian-era innovation that is a kind of #tallbike ride next to the CM tall-bike sound system. #BikeTooter The rider was dressed so daper as well.

@celesteh This is actually a great question.
In short, more like riding a safety bike.
Having said that, this can be a bad thing. Since they are basically "fixies" and this is easy to forgot if you normally ride bikes with a freewheel hub. Thus you can trick yourself into trying to coast if you stop paying attention, which would lock the wheel and possibly cause you to faceplant off the front.

Glynn, the penny farthing rider, and his son are doing the Liverpool to Chester bike ride to fund raise for cancer research.
I will be seriously impressed if he's riding through the Mersey tunnel on the penny farthing!!!
