  1. Huion Kamvas Pro 19 Roadtest

I get the opportunity at work to test out some really cool equipment so you can make a more informed choice on what is available out there beyond the usual suspects. Here’s my quick review of the Huion Kamvas Pro 19 – a solid product for the price!

  2. As an update for anyone who's interested: I since rebased to #Fedora #Kinoite after some amazing people from the #Bazzite Discord found out that there something seems to different on #Bazzite / #Ublue compared to Fedora #atomic when it comes to #Huion #tablet drivers (1).

On Kinoite it works out of the box on #KDE #Wayland in system settings! 😘 ✨

  3. CW: Talking about my personnal experience with pen displays - long post !

Getting a screen tablet is honestly one of the best purchases i made, and will probably never go back to screenless. I'm using it for all kind of things everyday but mostly for studies and art.

I was hesitating between 20+ inches and 16 in and ended up getting the latest, and i don't regret it at all! I find it much better because it takes less space on the desk (like with a 22 in it'll take most of your desk leaving little space for anything else, for a regular desk at least) - and for it's transportability, always traveling with mine and never got a problem with it taking too much space.

If you worry about the working surface of a 16 in to not be enough, you might want to look and compare the sizes according to your preferences, but to me 16 inches is just the perfect size and always had more space than needed for the tasks i do.

Now the design, i opted for one with customizable press keys which i already had with my old screenless (a XP-Pen Star 03), to me it's a must but this depends on personal preferences, many people use their desktop keyboard because they just prefer it.

Two other things i think is important to look at when purchasing a pen display: laminated surface and battery free pens (which is also valid for screenless)

If the surface of your screen isn't laminated, you're going to have a noticeable space between the input and your pen, which is not ideal. However note that even on laminated screens you're going to have a small space but way less noticeable (i can barely notice it on the Huion Kamvas 16).

I surely didn't cover all of the things, but these are the most important ones that come to mind ^^
And of course this is just me talking about my experience with drawing tablets, everyone got their own preferences and purpose for getting a pen display !

So yeah if you're looking to buy one for yourself, i hope this could be of any use or help at all :) ✌️
