Phew! well self-deserved respiratory relaxation output... er... sun's must have done my brain in, feels like a boiled egg lol!
But apart from silly jokes, am just now returned to base after a round ride of some 22/25 miles thusly: Royal Oak, Cardiff, through the Docks, up the flyover to the Merry Harrier, left then right and through Cosmeston lakes park, which is quite nice. Made it to Sully - took one hour - and was disappointed as there was no market, closed, I wonder if it has given up free trade as it used to be. Don't know.
Returned via a different route, through Swanbridge, up the road to Lavernock, down a bit then left on to the footpath, which shows severe signs of erosion. Made it Penarth where I stopped half an hour and had a fantastic sight never ever seen before! swimmers! in the Severn!! swimming under the pier! lucky for the the tide still had one hour rising time, or else they might have been swiped out to sea, and found nevermore; the current here is and can be ferocious.
Anyway, back on the return leg, up hill through the park, in Penarth, to the roundabout, took right, up some more to the very top of the hill, just over is the sea cadets place, then down... down down down quite fast even by applying the brakes which by now might be worn out.
Anyway made it to the Barrage, cross over that, through Splott, along the railway then, stopped ten minutes at the Portuguese shop, bought a couple of victuals. proceeded to the Asian shop to buy bread and a 3 Kg of red melon, delicious, a quarter of which is now resting in the fridge.
Left at 0753, returned at 12.03. not bad for an old man. Innit?

Phew! I dare say, alongside a well felt
i groan,
respectively having completed a 14 mile cycle ride and making it back safely plus all muscles and sinews beginning to make themselves noticed..Left at 9am to the plot where I spent the next 3 hours watering everything, re-potted two tomatoes from a small plastic pot to a much larger clay pot - which is better - pulled out broad beans, then went to the Hub - council office, to tell them I have already paid the plot rent a month ago, this because I got another letter from them asking for the money already paid.
Then off I went pedalling; took a diversion from the council to check out what happened to the area where the car boot sale used to be - whatever work that is, is not completed- then down the East Bute dock through the Pierhead (which in itself is half a mile away) to the barrage, where I stopped 15 minutes under the only tree available, for a fag. This on the North side, where the port is, a dredger was dredging and dredged away.
I resumed the ride; through Penarth docks, up the Taff trail, then stopped again for another rollie, another 15 minutes in the shade of a tree. Off I went then, noticed huge clouds to the West and to the North, none at all overhead. a light breeze, too warm for comfort, went alongside.
Made it to Blackweir, lots of people enjoying the water by the bridge, a boom box playing Led Zeppelin; crossed over, through the student's area, hardly anyone, then down through the usual route. Weirdly I felt quite annoyed for some unfathomable reason, am OK now.
Made it back safely, sweaty and smelly, cranked myself up to the flat, where the gauge measured 35.2C, darn it, in the kitchen, in full sunlight, other rooms at about 30C, with drawn shades. Had some fresh water and crashed an hour or so, hence the phew.
Now for the groan.... :o)

🏴⛽️🚍 With petrol and diesel prices continuing to rise, more people are looking for ways to cut travel costs in South #Wales. Taking the bus can be a cheaper and more relaxing alternative to driving for local journeys.
Whether travelling regularly or occasionally, there are several ways to save money on bus #travel. App users can buy a single ticket in #Cardiff and Penarth for £2.35, nearly 10% cheaper than buying from the driver.
Day to Go tickets offer unlimited travel across Cardiff, #Penarth and #Llandough for £5.20 a day, with further savings available through weekly, 4-weekly and annual tickets. Similar options are also available in Barry and across the wider network.
For less frequent travel, flexible app tickets may be more suitable. A bundle of 10 single tickets costs £23.50, while the Easy 3 bundle offers three day tickets for £15. All flexible tickets can be activated at any time within a year of purchase.
