Its unclear when the initial fossils were found. But we do know they were from Aquitanian sediments of Armagnac (France).
In 1857, French geologist and paleontologist, Édouard Lartet named an extinct bird Pelagornis.
In 2008 more species were found to be part of the Pelagornis family. These confirmed that the beak has pseudoteeth and it was very very large. One of the largest bird of all time.

The local animals have come to a large rock that will one day be named Gibraltar for safety and a view. Except the #Pelagornis, they're more interested in the fish falling down.
