Passing through the airport today, I overheard someone talking about the mysterious #moondial of #Ballintoy parish church in #NorthernIreland.
I had never heard of a moondial before and it instantly fascinated me. I just found a photo that shows that the front face is a #sundial but the side face is a moondial or #tidal clock.
I need to visit this church and learn more. Moondials must be incorporated into the mythology of #Pelagia, goddess of the moon and the tides!

They did not advertise it as the species level, but I am identifying it as the mauve stinger, Pelagia noctiluca. My justification of P. noctiluca is based on the color, the simple shape of the bell, and the form of the four undulating oral arms.
