#PeakEnergy has selected Sacramento, as home of America’s first manufacturing facility dedicated to #gridscale #sodiumionbattery systems. The 183,000sqft plant, representing a $71M investment, will produce up to 4GwH of storage annually when production begins in early 2027. Enough output each year to serve nearly four million homes, and it signals that sodium-ion tech has moved from lab to commercial reality.

At passivhaus standard the battery would be unnecessary.
We have one 1921 house, retrofitted to top of EPC 'C') and at the moment we are hardly using the grid, but I'm very mindful of the enormous problems of battery tech: the long supply chains and the devastation to lives and ecosystems at the mining end.
