Pol Espargaro has posted on Instagram that he agreed to heading to the test team and it wasn't a unilateral move by KTM.
-
Pit Beirer: "Pol’s openness and proactiveness deserves my deepest respect. It underlines his greatness as a person that he gave us a helping hand in this situation. It also shows his passion for the sport and his thoughts for the future." - Pol wanted this too.

One of the things that struck me most in Austria was the frankness with which Alex Rins and Pol Espargaro talked about the long-term consequences of the massive injuries they sustained this year.
So I wrote about the unseen pain which riders go through. They lie awake, unable to sleep, knowing that the pain isn't going away.

No Pol Espargaro for Assen. Good move, as he has 5 weeks to be fully healed before returning at Silverstone.
-
Another absentee: Pol Espargaro will miss the Sachsenring. Had a medical examination this morning, and there was still some swelling around his vertebrae. Folger to substitute.
Personally, I'm happy. Would be better if Pol skipped Assen as well, came back fully fit and healthy at Silverstone in August. Have time to recover. No need to risk a life-changing injury.

Injury update from Pol Espargaro after his crash at Portimão. Slow recovery from big injuries.
-
Jonas Folger to step in for Pol Espargaro until he returns. That is likely to be June at the earliest.
Might be a bit of a concern. Folger was very slow in testing.

MotoGP injury update:
Out for Argentina:
Enea Bastianini, Pol Espargaro, Marc Marquez, Miguel Oliveira.Probably back for Austin:
Marc Marquez, Miguel Oliveira. Enea Bastianini's status still unknown but unlikely.Out for longer: Catalan Radio interviewed Aleix Espargaro, said Pol would have jaw surgery on Tuesday, and was facing a 'long recovery'.
