More about my Bandcamp method:
- I listen to Bandcamp daily recommendations and official curated playlists. Usually not a hit but you never know.
- I also look at what's "fresh" in the genres that I tend to like. Most likely will find something new that I like.
- I allow myself to buy two albums per month for those I really really like, meaning roughly $20/mo go directly to artists
- I download them in MP3 320 and add them to my private Jellyfin library for me to enjoy wherever on every device. -

During the #GGGW walk, a man pointed at my Rich Skipworth “Greyhound Fan Club” shirt and said “Hey I have that on my hat!”
Me: “Oh, you’re a fan of Rich Skipworth as well?”
Him: “Huh?”
Me: “Yeah, Rich Skipworth, the artist.”
Him: “Oh, I got this on Ali Express.”
Me: “Oh…I prefer the artist to actually get paid.”
Moment of silence. Him, visibly offended: “But you can’t beat $2.50!”
Rich Skipworth’s merch isn’t expensive, and he has frequent sales…

We have published our fee structure for artists on the Words Ireland website for many years.
Today, as part of the #SayWhatYouPay initiative launched by Match in the Dark, we are happy to display this information at the link below.

I was pretty jazzed to catch part of The Daily Show last night and see Trevor Noah do a (relatively) deep dive on exposing how little Spotify musicians for their work...
... particularly since my last blog post was about exactly the same thing, and its good to see the issue getting more attention from a platform his size:
