Ich weigere mich weiterhin zu verstehen wie Leute UI so verkacken können wie z.B. bei #pavucontrol
An jedem Gerät eine Checkbox dran "show advanced options", die jeweils genau eine Zeile ein-/ausblendet.
Wenn es 10 Zeilen wären, könnte man darber reden. Aber selbst dann wäre eine globale Checkbox halt dramatisch sinnvoller?
Und alles hüpft wenn man das an-/ausschaltet! Die Breite ändert sich, weil eine vertikale Scrollbar aufploppt und die Höhe ja eh. Neu geladen wird der entsprechende View zusätzlich auch nochmal und baut sich in so 0.1s stückelweise auf.
Da war die typische Delphi-Anwendung, von unbeaufsichtigten Praktikanten in den frühen 2000ern erstellt, durchdachter! -
Das Jahr ist 2025.
Du bekommst einen Rechner mit Debian - es ist kein sinnvolles Tool installiert mit dem du schnell #Audio -Quellen und -Senken global an/ausschalten kannst. (Klar, ist auch total sinnvoll dass bestimmte Software bei jedem Start den Ton über mein USB-Mikrofon ausgeben will und als Mikrofon die Kamera nimmt!)
Also #pavucontrol installiert… (war das erste was mir eingefallen ist, sue me!)
WTF haben die an Drogen genommen als sie das #UI gestrickt haben?
Buttons ohne Label/Icon? "Show advanced options" dutzendfach auf dem Bildschirm und jede der Checkboxen zeigt nur jeweils EIN "latency offset"-Feld an, was genauso groß ist wie die Checkbox es schon war?
Select-Boxen mit jeweils nur einem Eintrag?
Je eine horizontale Linie unter jedem Gerät - auch wenn es das letzte in der Liste ist?
"Show volume meters" im Configuration-Tab steuert nur ganz subtil Darstellung in diesem Dialog selbst? (warum hängt da keine advanced options checkbox?)
Wir haben Ende der 90er bessere Dialoge in Delphi gestrickt! -

Ich hatte schon #PulseAudio und auch #Pavucontrol, aber den entscheidenden Hinweis hatte ich übersehen auf der Seite

Habe gestern per Bluetooth-Kopfhörer mehrfach an der Lautstärke rumgestellt
Heute dann die alten Overears wieder an Klinke angesteckt und #uBUNTu auf'm Arbeitsrechner hat wieder alle Pegel so weit verhauen dass man es mit #pavucontrol nicht repariert bekommt
Ich muss 2024 noch wild mit #alsamixer rumstellen um mein Audio verwenden zu können.
Erklär das mal einer Oma der ich nen #Linux-Rechner in die Hand drücken würde!
Einfach nur kaputt!

Gestern zwei #Audio-Geräte #pavucontrol deaktiviert um meine Probleme mit "nach Standby kommt immer Sound aus dem falschen Lautsprecher" zu lösen.
Heute Notebook @home wieder eingeschaltet - kein Ton aus (analog) Kopfhörer
Und kein Gerät in pavucontrol das nicht bereits aktiv wäre.
Wieder Viertelstunde rumgespielt bis es wieder funktionierte.
KMix war das einzige bei dem deaktivieren/aktivieren das Grundproblem löste. Alsamixer war nötig um die Pegel sinnvoll einzustellen

Aahh… la grabadora de sonido de #Gnome monitoriza los altavoces y no cambia automáticamente cuando cambias la salida de sonido. Tienes que cambiar el monitor manualmente con el control de volumen de #PulseAudio, #pavucontrol.

#easyeffects #linux #linuxaudio do you think you could have a volume slider or some mechanism when switching output interfaces to protect against instant 100% full volume headphones?
RIP my ears figuring out how to switch audio output.
At least with #pulseaudio or #pavucontrol there's a slider right there and you can quickly turn it down if you are fast enough instead of ripping them off your face.
Im fortunate enough to have had the open back kind, I can imagine closed would be even more crazy. Que Darth Vader from Back to the Future.

@woollypigs I have to use the PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) to get audio to end up at the right volume at the right time. What it is that changes the settings, I do not know.
I also run pacmd (from pulseaudio-utils) from my bashrc script to try getting things to stick, but it is difficult, but it works most of the time now.

Currently I'm running "20221123-0638-postmarketOS-v22.06-phosh-18-purism-librem5-installer.img.xz" -- "megapixels-purism" wasn't working and other than that I'm systematically going through packages to see what is available and workingWhen using a USB Dock and mouse opening apps and getting around is surprisingly quick.
I'm building a list of my favorite packages so I can pmbootatrap my own install image if possible eventually.
So far I much prefer #postmarketos to #pureos -- I am looking forward to trying #gnome for #librem5 #linuxphone too.
Some apps are broken like Gnome Maps, Pure Maps, Gnome Weather and a few "out of bounds" for the screen size in portrait mode. I am not sure if postmarketos needs to update them or what.
#lollypop for music works great. #portfolioand #nautilus for file browsing have improved since I tried them on #pinephone. #giara isn't yet working maybe I need a new version. Also ive yet to setup #tootle. #geary is bitter sweet, it is adequate for email but was hard to setup until I used a mouse. I love #gnomecalculator and #gedit for mobile has grown on me.
I was having trouble setting up #nextcloud -client but maybe when I try again it will work. #nextcloud in #gnomesettings worked fine and populated my contacts just fine.
I wasn't able to get Gnome Calendar working. #firefox -esr worked better than #epiphany but I need epiphany for webapps on the app screen for sites like https://windy.com and https://web.pulse point.org
I'm using #starship console just fine. #pavucontrol
#gnomeclocks is great! #pidgin not so much #rhythmbox not so much as it goes out of bounds.
I've also still yet to find a good video player, a equiv for youtube/newpipe and I have to give gnome-sound-recorder another try for audio note taking.
All in all it has come a long way from my initial research via PinePhone PMOS.
I love that there are also terminal apps like #bashtop too -- I wouldn't even mind having some .desktop launchers in the App Menu to load full screen versions of those and #htop -- certainly there's room for #neofetch ricers to make some cool #unixporn rices -- its going to be an interesting year for the linux phone space for sure -- so glad I finally have a #librem5 to poke around and do some research.
The big setback for me right now is figuring out a good #element client for #matrix -- I tried #neochat but it isn't fetching decryption keys -- #fractal froze -- I have to spend more time poking around.
And then of course as indicated by #purism "most wanted apps" on their website a #signal app of some sort or android version of it on the phone would be really important as SMS and MMS are not really reliable or robust.
More poking to do, thanks for the info about 22.12 -- installing pmos with the wiki was fairly straight foreward, slightly rough around the edges but not even close to hard mode in the #linux world.
