  1. I’m using my #Rok #espresso maker a lot more in the summer and have been trying to find a dosing funnel that is inexpensive — in shipping as well.

Found this STL to print one for a post-millennium La #Pavoni 50mm portafilter (mis-read it as pre-millennium, which is mine and whose accessories often fit my Rok):

Close. I guess what I save in shipping’s ecological impact and part cost I make up in microplastics in my espresso.

  2. It's a common misconception that #Gaggia's original spring lever #espresso machine design - the one that introduced modern day high pressure espresso brews with proper crema in 1947 - was a 9BAR machine.

It was not. It was a peak 7BAR machine (but more rated for 6.5BAR)

Experimentation between 1947 and 1955 by Gaggia, #Pavoni, #Faema, #Cimbali, and others pushed the springs to higher compression rates, bringing espresso up to around 9BAR.

The E61, with its rotary pump, was 9BAR ex.factory.

  3. @BadGranny Thanks! It's trickier with a lever, but I'm tempted. It does look great and apparently the #Elektra does much better with frothing than a Pavoni, so #Pavoni is off the list. I admit, I have never had trouble with a scorched taste with the #Rancilio
