Highways and Byways, Paul Klee, 1929
I like the loose structure, the faded color, and all the strange random texture over it all. Maybe like hang gliding over the idea of land in a fuzz storm. haha. but I guess for me there's a feeling in all of PK's work, like a loose but interesting intelligence. Everything is weird but it doesn't hurt. ❤️

Paul Klee (1879-1940), einer der bedeutendsten Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts, ist Poet und Revolutionär – der erklärte Lieblingsmaler großer Musiker und Architekten. Mehrere bedeutende europäische Museen widmen ihm Ausstellungen, die sich vor allem mit dem erschütternden Spätwerk und seinem radikalen Zeitbezug auseinandersetzen. In Bern, der Heimat des Malers, baut Stararchitekt Renzo Piano ein eigenes Paul Klee Museum mit dem Ziel, „das Sakrale und Profane zu verbinden und einen Ort der Ruhe und Stille zu schaffen, der gleichzeitig mit Leben gefüllt sein soll“. Die große Schau des Spätwerks trägt den Titel „Tod und Feuer“, eine programmatische Ankündigung. Die Dokumentation folgt den Spuren des heiteren Melancholikers und unbeirrbaren Pazifisten. -
#PaulKlee, übrigens ein Mann und Visionär, der auch nach heutigen Maßstäben ein gutet Mann ist, bei dem mensch nicht Werk und Künstler "trennen" muss. Der seine Karriere zurückstellte, um seinen chronisch kranken Sohn zu pflegen und ihn liebevoll unterhielt, der eine gute und machtmissbrauchslose Ehe lebte. 11/10

Hold your position, make tactical retreats if necessary, but keep the core of truth alive.
The tide is moving against us, in so many dimensions. Covid brought upon us a new wave of eugenicism; the far right is on the rise everywhere; genAI threatens our mental autonomy. The US constitional arrangement disintegrates. Big Business has taken over the UK Labour government. The horrors of the Middle East.
All of these developments amplify each other. There is no way for us to succeed against this powerful confluence of developments just right now. Things will get worse still.
But the tide will turn, eventually.
Our task is to maintain islands of integrity, wherever we can. To maintain a living memory of what it means to speak the truth, to be kind, to be authentic, to recognise facts, to listen.
That will not always be possible, but try we must.
