  1. I'm having far too much fun mixing swathes of colour to look like ink swirls. New set of patterns may be coming up.

  2. I'm in the middle of making a set of seamless patterns which contain runes.
I'm calling the design Futhark's Sake and I'm not even slightly sorry.

  3. The backpack pattern thus far in Seamly2D (seamly.io). Piece mode shows the 3 pattern pieces: Back, Bottom & Front. The Variables dialog window shows some of the parameters driving the dimensions of the pieces.

  4. A 2nd packpack prototype, this time out of Tyvek. The final version will be made out of Ultra 200X which has no stretch and rather stiff. This prototype out of Tyvek shows how the final pack will "feel".

This version is deeper, taller and wider than the 1st version. I refined the bottom shape, which was relatively easy to do thanks to the parametric design in Seamly2D (seamly.io).

  5. First prototype in fabric after drafting a pattern in Seamly2D (seamly.io/) based on the initial paper prototype. Made from recycled cotton. This prototype validated the pattern while also identifying several areas of improvement.

  6. Starting to prototype my first backpack. Made the initial prototype out of paper to get a feel for the shape I have in mind. I find it easier to iterate with paper and tape before continuing the design in software and fabric.

  7. Going to post some sketchbook work stuff I did last year that I liked in a black sketchbook. Korean Bojagi inspired.

  8. @gaghyogi49 would be super curious to know where that fabric was sourced, and whether the original costume designer had ordered that jacquard to be created or just found something appropriate and incorporated it.

I can see why it was retained and reused many times.

I’m wondering if there’s any available archival information on its creation.

  9. I design and sell #fabric and #wallpaper

Think of me if you ever want something custom made for you. Here is a link to see a loookbook pdf of some non-custom patterns that I have for sale alipunk.neocities.org/studio

  10. My brain wondered what would happen if I took the idea of the eye on a peacock feather, and made it cubist. A cool, yet very trippy pattern happened! I will share once I've finished all the versions.

  11. First pattern I've done in about... *checks notes*
...14 MONTHS! Time flies when you put random stuff through the scanner.

Anyway, this one has some abstract skulls on it. Started with photos of bubbles and then did stuff in Affinity, Bit Vision and Mosh-Pro. Have not decided if this will end up as a demo or could be expanded into a full set.

  12. NEWS Part 3!

I plan to start work on Pattern Book V3 next. Been thinking about this about a year, so expect plenty of surface pattern designs on the way.
