I've given in to subscribing to Nebula.tv (#NebulaTV). It's either $60 p.a. or if you go via the page of #PatrickHWillems (funny guy doing long-form videos about movies who also founded Nebula as far as I know) it's just $30. That's really cheap and you won't have to deal with ads and so on.

An older video essay from the great #PatrickHWillems about trains in movies. Why is it such an essential vehicle in so many movies since the brothers Lumière? It restricts space and moves the plot forwards - and both things are great for propelling the plot and forcing the scriptwriters to get creative. And have you noticed that the conductor is often invisible? It's the train who is the character.

This video is about #enshittification of media corporations - Warner in particular - without mentioning the term. The #CoyoteVsAcme movie is mentioned as an example but ultimately that youtuber is mad that the "TCM Wine Club", a deal where they sent a box of wine bottles and recommended classic movies to go along with them, got degraded. But his monologue goes deeper.

I watched this 1.5 hour video on "The Death of Cinema" mostly to understand why film seems to be in decline and the #GamesIndustry isn't.

My takeaways:
-Even though #gaming also has major franchises, they don't crowd out mid-level games the same way tent pole movies do.
-The Steam marketplace is much better for a medium than a Netflix subscription.
