Märchenhaft – Konzert des Sinfonieorchester Basel mit Patricia Kopatchinskaja als Solistin

Mit einem anspruchsvollen Programm unter dem Titel „Märchenhaft“ wurden an diesem Abend zwei zeitgenössische Kompositionen mit zwei modernen Klassikern verbunden. Das Werk „The Rapids of Life“ aus dem Jahre 2023 der finnischen Komponistin Outi Tarkiainen machte als schweizerische Erstaufführung den Anfang. Dabei werden die persönliche Erfahrungen bei der Geburt ihres Kindes und die intensiven Gefühle, die mit einem solchen Erlebnis verbunden sind, durch intensive Musik vermittelt. Von den Klangwogen, welche das in großer Besetzung spielende Orchester entwickeln, wird man förmlich überrollt. Es entwickelt sich eine bedrückende Stimmung, welche sich schließlich mit einem Schrei entlädt. Obwohl die Absicht der Komponistin eine ganz andere war, berührt die Musik besonders zu einer mit vielen Bedrohungen und Ängsten belasteten Zeit, wie der gegenwärtigen. (Rezension des Konzerts v. 4. Der Spaß am Duo inspirierte Patricia Kopatchinskaja vor einigen Jahren zu ihrer CD "Take Two" mit Duetten aus einem Jahrtausend Musikgeschichte. Nun knüpft die Geigerin daran an, nennt ihr neues Album "Take 3" und hat zwei ihr vertraute Musiker eingeladen. Die drei spielen packende Musik aus dem 20. Jahrhundert.

It was our only fast-speed-one rehearsal with #AyakoTanaka in Lille, the rest of the time we were very busy with the new violin concerto of A.Cattaneo, so we somehow forgot to meet before the concert. In the concert Ayako was astonishingly free and her diction was a language of a Romanian folk musician. I was surprised and so grateful. Bravissima dear Ayako!

In the pandemic being lucky enough to play with #SWR Orchestra and #ChristophEschenbach #Schumann #Violin #Concerto, I asked Christoph to play between the movements the theme of the ghost variations which is the same as the melody in the slow movement of the violin concerto, in a different tonality. We all listend to him and were touched to tears. I often think, that is actually the only thing I really want - to touch the heart of the ... ⬇️

I am so happy to have found a publisher in Berlin. And I can imagine to make a chamber music concert reading some lines of his book between the related pieces. It will be translated into german and who knows, maybe one day also in other languages.

Never heard the Fiocco Lamentations before, and gee, they are really beautiful!
"Má Vlast" on historical instruments makes for a complete rediscovery of these pieces!
