  1. #TIL that these are called a #volume in #bouldering. In bouldering, there are #paths, which are well-designed #climbing routes, to practice specific skills used in bouldering. In a bouldering gym, a path is built with plastic elements called volumes. This volume is part of a path made for kids, and has the shape of an elephant in a #cartoon #style.

    EXIT: Not a volume but a grip! (See reply to this for details - thanks @codebyjeff )

    WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender" on Friday, a dramatic escalation one week into the war he launched alongside Israel that could make it more difficult to negotiate a swift end to hostilities.Trump made the remarks on...

  7. As a #Cyclist who is fortunate enough to live in a place where I can #Cycle all year round, #Autumn has come to be known to me as #PunctureSeason. With many #paths festooned with fallen sharp twigs and small branches, particularly after heavy winds, it’s sometimes like riding over an unavoidable set of #Stingers and to avoid them all is virtually impossible and one’s vehicle eventually succumbs to the inevitable.

  10. Some #paths are little more than #mudtracks and as it had rained heavily on the previous day, #puddles remained and the ground was quite muddy… Part of the fun of #hiking, I find, is getting a bit dirty in the process.

  11. A bottle of shoe-stones. #Memories of #paths I've #walked.

    Perhaps uncomfortable when picked up, now they make me think of #ThamesPath London's other rivers, the #CapitalRing, #LondonLoop, walks with @Metwalkers & the thousands of interesting parts of #London I've found for myself.

  12. On #Python if you use relative paths on a script, they are interpreted as relative to the "current working directory" Path.cwd(), when you call the script from the command line. If you want for some reason to reach a file relative to the script source itself you can use:

    from pathlib import Path
    file_path = Path(__file__).parent / 'data' / 'my_file.dat'

    #pathlib #paths update: @isagalaev saw a typo, there should be no leading / on data/my_file.dat
    update2: better to let pathlib do the sub-dir thing, also more portable.

  13. #Violence results from a lack of #self #disciple and #selfcontrol.

    There are many #paths to gain #mastery over one's #emotions and #impulses.

    The #Bible #books of #Proverbs, Timothy, and Galatians highlight the gains when one controls oneself. #Jesus reprimanded His own #disciple against using violence.

    #MartialArts, #Yoga, and #meditation all teach and train self mastery.

    #Military training, especually when coupled with #virtues of #Honor, #Respect, and #Integrity, teach when action against another is warranted and when it is not. Violators of such #principles face #courtmartial.

    #Jedi and #Samuri #warriors, live by these principles unless they have turned to the dark side and then they lose all honor.

    #Nonviolence is a #Virtue.
