  3. Bitwarden Password Manager almost doubled their price...? 💵 🤔

    I do not remember a notification...? 🧾 🤔

    Hmmm... 🤔 🤨

[EDIT] ➡️ People have since sent Me a link:

  4. @moschehaus Made some progress this we. Most of the setup works: Clone a repo, list the recipients used by the repo and import the age identities in the #yubikey #PIV on both #cosmic and #android both using #slint.

The critical paths now work, next up:
    - Decrypt using the key in the PIV.
    - Prompt to import keys during setup.
    - Prompt to import their SSH key for cloning.

The first release will be a read-only vault you can use to unlock and audit secrets.

  5. I set out last week to replace my #passwordmanager #gopass. My requirements: keys live on my #yubikey, unlocking one secret doesn't expose the whole vault, native #Wayland UX, per secret fingerprint/pin policy.

Survey: severely lacking. I was not looking for a project, but the #linux desktop really needs this.

To stay motivated I raised the bar: native #cosmic and #android too, learning #slint on the way. Not a webview. Secrets done right: constant-time and zeroized.

    Now we're cooking on gas!

  6. One of the first apps I installed on my Jolla Phone was BitSailor to get access to all my passwords. Bitsailor is a native Bitwarden app and it has all the features I need! You can download it from OpenRepos:

  7. Hey @bitwarden care to explain your surrender to a venture capital firm? You're treading awfully close to the precipice that #Lastpass tripped and fell into.

Otherwise a lot of us, me included will be consulting articles like these for our next password manager

  8. I noticed a highly worrying thing today. I was checking DNS logs of a family member and found that all domains listed in Apple's Password app, logged one after the other. What alerted me was that I put some dummy domains in there, for passwords without a website.

    WTF!

PS I use KeepassXC / Keepassium, but that's too complicated for that person.

  9. Scareware sells urgency. Password managers sell boredom — and that is why they matter.

How a vault sits next to VPN and antivirus without fake infection alerts.

  10. Every password manager stores your vault on a company's server. One breach exposes everyone's data at once.

Z-TEXT doesn't have that server. Vault entries are encrypted twice — wallet seed + master password — then written directly to the BitcoinZ blockchain via zk-SNARKs. No central database to breach.

Same cost as Proton Pass. You also get a messenger, wallet, and channels.

  11. Zero Password Manager is a self-hosted password manager built around privacy and local control.

Your vault is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before being sent to your own server. It supports TOTP 2FA, passkeys, biometrics, password history, emergency access, and cross-platform clients.

  12. And this is why I’ve always refrained from having all my passwords in a single depository anywhere #OnLine

Are you listening @1password ??? Do you want my money? Bring back local syncing and stop trying to force me to sync my vault ON THE FUCKING INTERNET!!

  13. "Security researchers have discovered three attacks that allow malware on already-compromised Windows devices to abuse Google Password Manager's synced passkeys to take over accounts, bypass user verification, and extract passkey private keys."

  14. #itsec fedifriends, I'd like your opinion please: is using #Passkey a good idea, compared to strong generated passwords with #2fa ?

Providers, #bigtech in particular, seem to push hard in that direction. I wonder if it is a good idea.

In my case, I use a #passwordmanager and refuse to use biometrics.

    Thanks for your #fedihelp 😁

  15. New IT Guy Show is live, and this one is about a tool a lot of us LOVE: @bitwarden .

Password managers are one of those things everyone agrees you should use and nobody really wants to talk about. We got into why Bitwarden being open source actually matters, new features, and how it holds up when you take it into a team or an org instead of just your personal logins.

  16. As we have seen some indicators for enshittyfication at Bitwarden, I‘m wondering if we must expect more to come and what’s the best alternative. Selfhosting Vaultwarden on a VPS? Running Vaultwarden on a home server with VPN access only? Or going radically offline, using KeepassXC and syncthing?
