  2. Seems like I’m going to need to invest some time and money into whatever 1Password alternative I choose…

I’m intrigued by the idea of a VPS so I can self-host a bunch of things for about the same price as a password manager subscription.

  3. Researchers found Microsoft Edge loads every saved password into plaintext memory at launch, increasing exposure after session compromise 🔐
Unlike other Chromium browsers, Edge keeps credentials readable in RAM, raising scraping risks on shared and admin-access systems 🛡️

  4. @dome I'm planning Don't be a victim of supply chain attacks. Easily protect your credential files behind an encrypted fuse point. NyxPass v1.1 available - github.com/cicero-ai/nyx/relea #RustLang #OpenSource #passwordManager I have forgejo running already, and planning to move my Github repos over to it as well. Why not just replace the Readme of your Github repos with the new links?

  6. I might be hitting my breaking point with :1password: @1password — the browser extension reliability has taking a huge hit over the past year. This makes me very sad after being a loyal customer & advocate since early 2008.

I don't know if it's iOS 26.4 but the Safari extension loads maybe 50% of the time now—thankfully iOS AutoFill can step-in when this happens.

macOS browser extensions are a bit better—Safari being the worst, occasionally taking up to 10 seconds to load/unlock. I often end-up relaunching my browser to get the extension to work again.

✏️ Edit: Glad they are aware!

  7. Microsoft Edge keeps all saved passwords in cleartext in RAM for the entire session, making memory scraping easier for attackers 🖥️
The behavior is “by design,” unlike Chrome, and highlights the risks of storing credentials in browsers instead of using password managers 🔑

  8. 1Password adds direct credential import via the Credential Exchange Protocol, plus smarter login creation on iOS and Android for more seamless vault organization. 🔑
I recommend using a password manager daily to keep passwords secure and simplify everyday login management. 🛡️

  9. #AliasVault #PasswordManager at first seemed interesting, especially since it's possible to #SelfHost, but between Claude 🤖 in .gitignore and the SMTP server being their own code in dotnet it does not seem like something I dare touch.

  10. Browser based password managers are really convenient but they can feel a little less than secure at times. A nice idea might be accepting a Yubikey or similar device as a login-time credential that is both fast and a little more secure than a password.

Does anyone know if any browsers implement something like this that *isnt* just a password?

  11. Bitwarden CLI version 2026.4.0 was compromised via a GitHub Actions supply chain attack, distributing malicious npm code that stole secrets 🔓
The package was briefly available before removal, with attackers exfiltrating tokens and injecting workflows across CI pipelines 🔐
