In honor of #WorldPasswordDay, I looked at the Internet exposure of 5 different password manager products with web-accessible vaults.
Vaultwarden was the most popular by far (62% of instances observed), followed by Passbolt and Bitwarden.
I did a deeper dive on Vaultwarden and Bitwarden and was surprised to see how relatively current these instances were:

Tiens, je découvre passbolt, une alternative open source et européenne (Luxembourg) à Bitwarden qui semble assez crédible en terme de sécurité. https://www.passbolt.com/
Et sur le repo, il n'y a pas l'air d'avoir d'utilisation d'IA (du moins pas de "co-authored by Claude") et les mises à jour semblent régulières. About ten years ago, we pushed the first lines of Passbolt code to GitHub. Since then the team kept growing, and now so is the HQ. We recently took over another floor, and last night we celebrated the new space 🎉 Thank you to our investors, partners, friends, family, and the amazing community who attended. An alle, die #Vaultwarden oder #Passbolt selbst betreiben: habt ihr das über das Internet erreichbar gemacht? Wenn nicht, haben die Passwortmanager einen Offline-Mode?
Ich tendiere dazu, sowas im Homelab zu belassen. Nach Hause kommt man sowieso irgendwann und dann kann sich alles synchronisieren. -

Meine Passwortverwaltung inkl. 2FA läuft seit ca. 1 Monat über Passbolt - Selfhosted. Während dieser Zeit wurde Stück für Stück eine Dokumentation im Git-Repository erstellt. Ein Cronjob sichert täglich die Daten und diese werden (aktuell) noch wöchentlich auf einen verschlüsselten USB-Stick gesichert. Highlight an der ganzen Sache ist ein interaktives Skript, welches einen neuen Server innerhalb von 10 - 15 min. auf den aktuellen Stand wiederherstellt. #passbolt #vps #vpn #selfhosted #ionos

Как развернуть менеджер паролей на базе Passbolt на виртуальной машине
У меня пара сотен аккаунтов на разных сайтах, и я хочу, чтобы они хранились в безопасном месте. Запомнить все пары логинов и паролей не вариант, хранить все в телефоне рискованно тем, что если я потеряю аппарат, то вместе с ним потеряю и все доступы. На работе мы пользуемся корпоративным менеджером паролей. Это реально удобно: надо запомнить всего один логин и один пароль. Я подумал развернуть для себя нечто подобное для личных доступов. Решил попробовать Passbolt, его функций мне вполне достаточно, и положить его на виртуальную машину в облаке, чтобы иметь доступ к паролям, где бы я ни находился. В статье собрал пошаговую инструкцию, как я это делал и сколько мне это стоило. Будет интересно тем, кто начинает погружаться в облако: на моем примере можно и сервисы изучить, и решить вполне прагматичную задачу.
