Successfully witnessed the eclipse in the bottom of my cereal box viewer.
Managed to do so from the back garden which was great because I didn't have to go anywhere and I am a Big Fan of Not Going Anywhere.

Turn your back to the Sun and poke a hole through one piece of paper and use it to project the image of the eclipse down onto the other piece. Anything you can find with holes like this will work, including a kitchen colander!
Maximum eclipse on Wednesday 12th August is around 7pm UK time, with just over 90% of the Sun covered by the Moon for those of us in the UK

In 2017, we had a partial eclipse. At the time I lived with my wife (now ex-wife) in Frederick, MD on almost 9 acres of forested land.
I took a rig I had made to hold small solar panels, and hacked it into a binocular holder.

"Crescent Shadows", I call this capture. Another lesser-known effect of a solar eclipse: when the sun filters through leaves, normally it's a disc, but when the moon starts to cover it, you all of a sudden see *crescents* dappling through. Much more eerie. Especially when the lighting is low due to the sun dimming...

Here are a couple of my partial solar eclipse shots, taken with a fair amount of cloud cover. I’m pretty happy with the results, considering that I only used a relatively cheap Baader solar filter on my telescope and the weather conditions. The equipment I used is in the alt text.
