  1. While it was hard to see, if not impossible to see it with the naked eye, not that you should look straight into the sun, I took this shot using welding glasses:

  5. Got up early yesterday to see the partial solar eclipse from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It was only visible for about 15 minutes through a narrow cloud window. Well worth it! #photography #partialeclipse #solareclipse #solareclipse2025 #partialeclipse2025 #landscape #seascape #EastCoastKin

  6. Here are a couple of my partial solar eclipse shots, taken with a fair amount of cloud cover. I’m pretty happy with the results, considering that I only used a relatively cheap Baader solar filter on my telescope and the weather conditions. The equipment I used is in the alt text.

  7. Partial Solar Eclipse – A Celestial Spectacle! 🌘✨
A breathtaking moment—watching the Moon partially cover the Sun, veiled by dramatic clouds. Nature’s way of reminding us how fleeting and mesmerizing these cosmic events are.

  13. Missed partial celestial shenanigans just now because a) I was in work running around inside b) I live in Ireland. #PartialEclipse #Sun

  14. @helenczerski Neighbours appreciated seeing the pinhole projection but explained to us that this juxtaposition has delayed Eid! #Ramadan #partialeclipse

  15. Partial eclipse in #Glasgow circa 11.07 am. Will we notice any difference to how dark things usually get? Looks at overcast sky.

  16. TFW you try to photograph a full moon and a dragon eats it

Last night I was going to try to photograph the full moon, and the insert in the upper left tells you all what went wrong with that plan. So I had to get up bright & early this morning...

  17. I think that the amazing thing about the partial solar eclipse in Atlanta today was that even tho the sun was about 85%+ blotted out from the sky... it wasn't 85% less bright out, it was only more like 25% less dark. The temperature did drop a bit which was nice but still a lot of light out. It's amazing how much visible light that sliver puts out.

What plans did I have for eclipse day?

Being a terrible human being, I didn't make plans for the eclipse or Right to Read day. I ran errands and tried to recover from yesterday's cat show.

The only plans I had for today were rest and recover . . . and #Writephant of course!

I got super excited about the partial eclipse in March 1970 when my dad made me a pinhole camera (those are so cool!), and we watched it together. Been there, done that.

  19. In my endevour for taking a photo of the eclipse, I also got this one, I didn't realize this until now, but the partial sun seems to be visible way above what I assumed to be the sun.

For context, I took a photo of this with my phone behind a soldering mask, so I assume it's some weird refraction thing going on, but I find it really strange and it's not the only photo where there's a big light blob and the "moon" way above it. Not sure what's going on exactly.

  20. The eclipse from Western Washington was barely noticeable with the naked eye through the cloud cover. It did however create a good filter though for some phone photography. Still had to do some selective edits to make it show up a little better.
