The on campus cockatoos will not be distracted from their lunch of fallen seed pods by a mere human getting up in their faces with a camera.

Jan 13, 2026 @ 13:01 God afternoon family & friends❣️ It looks gray outside, haven't checked the weather. Been, of course, working on this site since I got up a couple of hours ago. Pete is at another appointment, getting tests. My excitement for the day is that I'm going to try making mayo out of HB eggs. Lots of videos online about how to do it. Mayo has gotten crazy expensive, especially the kinds without seed oils (which I've been avoiding long before it was trendy to do so). I want to play my keyboard and work on some more of the songs from the Rejoice Hymns (Hamilton) which is the first of the modern hymnals I bought last year. As you can see by yesterday's music I shared, I'm still in the C's in the index, so I have a LOT more to work on in this book alone. Of course the PoiBoiz have been keeping me company all morning, especially Maxwell who loves to fly back and forth from me to various other spots. Elliot is more sedentary (and also older) and would rather stand on top of his cage and call for me to come and get him hahaha! He's a good flyer but not as much of a smooth land-er anymore...failing eyesight perhaps? In October he will be 28; most sources give them a lifespan of 25-30, but some claim they can live up to 40 years. I hope that's the case with my boiz... Anyway, I guess I will go get on with my day, and will see you later❣️🙌✝️🎶😆🥩🌿💐👴👵🐕🦺🦜

Nov 21 2025 @ 21:21 (!) Good evening family & friends❣️ Today was about as I expected...except for Maxwell...that bird 🙂↔️... While Pete was sleeping after his treatment and I was in the living room with the birds, Maxwell fell back behind the table upon which their cages sit, way back in the far corner. I have the table covered with a sheet, and a huge heavy tote under it that it packed full with bird cleaning supplies, foods, heavy bags of crushed walnut shell, toys and toy parts...it is heavy! And since my accident bending over - well, I just don't do it now - so when Max didn't find his own way out after a few minutes I went to get Pete to help. All told, Max was trapped for about 20 minutes, by the time Pete had moved my furniture where I sit, then the tote (slowly and carefully because he couldn't see exactly where Maxwell was). When Max did finally stumble out, he startled us both by flying straight up between us and making a circle out of the room before landing - it was so quick! Max is absolutely fine, he was a little shaky so I put him directly into his cage with a treat in his dish so I'd know when he was settled, and that was only a few minutes before he climbed off his perch to get it. Once again it struck me that if something happened to one of my PoiBoiz I would be absolutely devastated! And they'll get extra cuddles from now on. Anyway, I slept most of the afternoon and well into the evening, as expected, and will be going to bed soon again so I'll be shutting down after this and will see you in the morning, good night❣️🥱🤕🙏🛌

Few things are lovelier than the parrot discovering it’s that time of year again — when his breath paints the window.

#Til that greater noctule #bats (Nyctalus lasiopterus) prey on young migratory birds, while in #Seville they get expelled from their caves and bitten by rose-ringed parakeets.
