Claro, el público comiquero no puede dejar de imaginar que hubiese pensado el autor acerca de esto.

Ditko, fallecido en 2018, era un hombre muy reservado, que nunca daba entrevistas, ni aceptaba premios, porque decía que no merecía más reconimiento que su trabajo (y claro, la paga). Varios comentaristas en internet han dicho que el historietista "se revolcaría en su tumba", pero voces autorizadas, como el autor Mark Waid señalaron que a Ditko probablemente no le importaría, ni para bien, ni para mal.

Su familia, por otro lado, declara estar muy contenta con el nombramiento. Claro, recientemente acordaron con Marvel/Disney fuera de juzgados un caso por derechos de autor, por una compensación seguramente cuantiosa. Hace unos años ya, Stan Lee y Jack Kirby habían sido nombrados Disney Legends, ya que la corporación también considera válidos para este honor a responsables de creaciones previas a su adquisición.

Dentro de las Disney Legends se encuentran actores, músicos, animadores, directores, y guionistas, entre otras profesiones. También incluyen a los diseñadores de las atracciones y demás parte de sus parques, y este año además suman a una pionera en ese ámbito. Se trata de una mujer que cumplió 50 años trabajando con la empresa al retirarse en 2022, y fue la primera guía negra full time que tuvieron los parques, y la primera gerente negra de Disneyland. Escaló la jerarquía corporativa hasta convertirse en Directora de Eventos Especiales de Merchandising de Disneyland Resort.

Además, en las Disney Legends de este año se encuentran Frank Oz, Harrison Ford, John Williams, Angela Bassett, y James Cameron. Los nombramientos oficiales se harán en una ceremonia durante el evento D23 del mes de agosto.
