As a member of the European Parliament, I recently discussed the EU's Global Strategy and its successes over the past three years. I highlighted several achievements, such as the programs in the fields of security and defense, partnership reinforcement, fishing, association and investment with Ukraine, support for the peace process in Colombia, and more.
However, I also addressed an area where we still have a lot to do: the "internal-external axis" in migration policies. While we have made some progress with programs like Operation Sophia, there is still much work to be done. How can we talk about human rights when we continue to allow thousands of people to die at our borders because some of our states refuse to comply with international asylum rules? How can we continue to be complicit in the tension and mistreatment of migrants in detention centers in Libya, where they are subjected to torture and inhumane treatment?
To conclude, the EU's Global Strategy can help us make progress in areas where we have already achieved success elsewhere. We need to take action to address the ongoing migration crisis and ensure that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

I think it's important for the European Union to have a strong global strategy, but we need to make sure it's more than just words on paper. We need to put our money where our mouth is and prioritize funding for prevention, resolution, and stabilization efforts. Climate urgency should also be a top priority.
Here are some concrete proposals:
1. Increase funding for the European External Action Service to at least 40% of the proposed Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) to match the ambition of the EU Global Strategy.
2. Emphasize climate urgency and prioritize efforts to address it in all aspects of the EU's global strategy.
3. Review and revise the EU Global Strategy to include a clear geographical focus and prioritize policies that are most promising for achieving our goals.
