Hay días en los que me siento un jodido freaky ( a mucha honra) y hoy es uno de ellos.
La semana pasada me compré a muy buen precio una Parker 51. Hasta ahí todo, semi normal.
El tema es que se me metió en la sesera averiguar el modelo y año de fabricación, sin saber que eso es toda una aventura de investigación por un laberinto de modelos, años y pequeños y casi microscópicos detalles.Os comparto el método por si a alguien le sirve.
-El primer paso es fácil, como se carga por presión es aerométrica, eso significa que es posterior al 1948.
Los primeros tubos del cargador en 1948 eran de aluminio y pasaron a ser cromadas en 1949, y luego a acero inoxidable cepillado en 1950, que es mi caso, es decir del 50 para arriba.
De 1948 a 1950, las tapas tenían un clip largo largo con la flecha típica flechas, pero en 1951 se cambió por el clip corto como el mío. Ya vamos del 51 en adelante.
En el cargador pone "press 4 times" eso significa que es posterior al 50, antes se presionaba 6 veces.
En el 57 dejan de poner en el depósito "use Supercrome" y pasa a poner solo "use Parker Ink" como la mía, ya vamos mínimo por el 57
Para ahorraros un galimatías de códigos, marcas y fechas resumo con que el agujero de ventilación lateral y el famoso logo del ovalo y la flecha se lo ponen a partir del 60 y....bingo! tengo una Parker MK II C fabricada en el año 1960, que para más señas escribe que es una delicia. He was an undergraduate at Harvard with Zuckerberg,
and in 2014 co-founded a startup with funding from #Conway, #Benioff and Napster co-founder Sean #Parker.Mahan appears to be the savior the tech industry had been searching for.
Since his candidacy announcement just two weeks ago,
⚠️millions have poured into his campaign.According to public records, he’s received donations from several venture capitalists,
along with Roblox CEO David #Baszucki, Y Combinator CEO Garry #Tan, GitHub co-founder Chris #Wanstrath, Cloudkitchen co-founder Diego #Berdakin, and Ring founder #Siminoff.Mahan has even courted donors who helped launch companies known for working with the Trump administration,
including Palantir co-founder Joe #Lonsdale and Anduril co-founder Matt #Grimm and his wife Kimberly Grimm, according to public records.Google’s #Brin has also backed Mahan, maxing out the limit for an individual campaign donation at $78,400.
Several of Mahan’s other tech backers also maxed out their donations.

I cleaned my vintage Parker Duofold fountain pen I bought second hand a few of months ago. The nib is now shining gold. Before cleaning it was so dirty it was hard to tell what metal the nib was made of.
I just used water to flush it, and let it soak for a few hours. Then I polished the nib with a gold cloth.

So, a few weeks back, I bought a pair of cheap #Parker 51 #Chinese #clone #fountainpens. I had heard / read that the early editions of these pens (I believe they were cartridge / converter fill style) were not well received.
But, when they implemented a vacuumatic style filling system, I'd heard they had greatly improved.
Unfortunately, that isn't the case with this pair of pens. There is something wrong with the feed. They dry start, and frequently run dry while writing. I've tried tuning the nibs, but no luck. The only time I can get them to work decently is if I take the feed cap off -- which suggests that the feed cap isn't allowing proper air flow.
I have another one on order from a different listing. We'll see if that one works well. If it does, I'll order a second one from that listing.
Either way, these two need to be cleaned out and returned.
Guess this serves me right for buying an actual clone pen. Most of the Chinese pens I've bought have been either unique, or similar but still distinct from other pens. This was the first time I bought a literal clone.
