some friends and i were finding stickers in our neighbourhood with terfy talking points. when we started peeling them down, we noted that they'd reappear weekly in the same places.That was four years ago. Since then, we've documented a detailed route and timing of these stickers, and are confident it's the work of a single person. Their timing has grown less consistent, but we still peel these down every week.
We've peeled over 1000, and made hundreds of reports to 311 and Toronto Hydro to clean graffiti they leave behind. We've even met a few like minded folks who are also peeling down stickers.

The northbound bus stop on Dufferin at queen is out of service. Has been for weeks, will be for months more.
There is no signage directing people to wait one street over.
When you call the TTC about this, you get bounced between no fewer than three departments...and I finally reached someone who told me no, the stop that all buses are detouring around entirely is actually open. I guess the paperwork I got in the mail about it was just 4 pages of creative writing.
I give up. I wasted an hour trying to get clear signage, but people can just waste their time waiting, it's not important. Who cares, certainly not the city.
Why do I even bother interacting with the TTC?

CW: Transphobia
got some advice here a few months ago about how to deter transphobic stickers in #parkdale - about 5km worth would show up in a loop every week or so.
This advice seems to have discouraged them. after peeling over 500 stickers I now only see them incidentally, not in the numbers or frequency I once did.
which means it's time to double down and make sure they know how unwelcome this shit is 🏳️⚧️

oh! the other day, near Queen St. W. and Close, I saw some sort of bird of prey chasing pigeons, harrying them, almost catching one before its energy ran out and it retired to a tree. it was rather small, surprisingly close in size to the pigeons. it had dark speckles on its breast and a barred tail. a young red-tailed hawk? or something else? probably impossible to tell without a good photo, i know.

On my way to get groceries, came across a juvenile pigeon outside Lucky Supermarket on Queen W.!
Thanks to that baby bird flowchart (https://wildlifecenter.org/help-advice/healthy-young-wildlife/if-you-find-baby-bird) I knew was a fledgling and its parents were likely close by, and indeed just as I was walking away a adult pigeon swooped down to check on it, and the fledgling began begging it for food. Good luck little buddy.

Just saw a coyote at King and Dunn! It was trotting briskly down Dunn from Queen, and fortuitously crossed with the light. Then it almost ran into a skunk that was ambling across Dunn. The skunk was startled, but nothing came of it.
