Orange Queen at the #PlacqueminsParish #Orange #Festival, demonstrating a kumquat. Some time after this photo the queen will be competing against the visiting queens from other south #Louisiana #parishes. I believe the contest involves eating the oranges and kumquat as quickly as possible.
This queen and all visiting queens appear to wear decorated shrimp boots. Usually plain white, these boots have many names, incl "Cajun rebooks," and are commonly worn by local workers in these parishes.

@steverocky @goodlawproject Gonna duck out here I think - I understand how strongly you feel about this but accusations of high levels of unlawfulness aren't borne out by the evidence - I read lots of PI reports as part of my CPD and deliberate unlawfulness is much less common than simple errors caused by under resourced councils getting out of their depth - especially after asset transfers by upper tier auths to #parishes who are often under resources.
