On day 3 we cycled to Trieste.
Pro tip: there is a ferry from downtown to Muggia to skip the awful industrial port district of Trieste, running hourly, 6 EUR with bike. Useful when riding #EuroVelo8 or the #Parenzana trail.

Ich wollte schon seit Jahren mal ein wenig auf der #Parenzana fahren. Heute habe ich durch Zufall ein Schild gesehen und bin in Richtung #Višnjan einem Teil der alten #Bahntrasse gefolgt. Wirklich nichts für Renn-, Trecking- oder Cityräder. War schon sehr holperig!

We were out early today, avoiding the afternoon heat, for a hike on the #Parenzana trail near #Buje #Buie and #Savudrija #Salvore in #Istria 🇭🇷. This former narrow gauge railway line, built during Habsburg times, closed to traffic long ago. The trackbed now hosts a lovely cycling and hiking path.

Our holidays in #Istria usually come with a visit to the #Parenzana trail. This is a hiking and cycling route, built on the trackbed of the disused #Trieste 🇮🇹 and #Koper 🇸🇮 to #Poreč 🇭🇷 narrow gauge railway line which dates back to Habsburg times. Some mileposts are still there.

Bumped into this funny thing on the #Parenzana #cycling trail in Croatia. They’ve built several viewpoints along the route and all but this one that’s overgrown by vegetation have indeed amazing views.
But. It has an open wifi access point with decent connectivity. All in the middle of Istrian backcountry.

Out on yet another stretch of the #Parenzana 🇮🇹🇸🇮🇭🇷 hiking and cycling trail: today the section between the #Istria|n hilltop towns of #Buje and #Grožnjan. Some vestiges of the old railway line infrastructure are still visible, like the platform edge of #Triban station.
