Parakites are the hot shit since a few years in the #paragliding world. Mostly targeted towards costal soaring in high wind conditions. Airdesign just released a “mountain #parakite” which seems also be fine with thermal conditions.. This raises the question if this revolution is moving more and more into normal paragliding areas. Quite interesting…. (At least for me 😂)

I've just had a lovely walk on the Malvern Hills. I didn't see any buzzards, peregrines or red kites. I saw a lark, but it was perching rather than ascending. The reason might be that the airspace was somewhat crowded, as the photo and video shows.
I have never seen so many paragliders at once, in 35 years of living here. At one point I counted 40 in the air and 15 on the ground.

When you first learn #paragliding, you're taught that infinity tumble* is the hardest trick you can do - you will have Completed Paragliding when you do it. As it turns out, it's the entry to acro, and there's many years of satisfying progress to be had there.
I've been practicing tumbling for a couple of years now, but Monday was the first time I did infinity with corrections, fully under my control, and it is the single most fun thing you can do on a glider.

Dear #fediverse and especially the #paragliding community: Is there any use case for 20 year old gear and wing?
When the number of family members went above 3, I somehow didn't manage do make enough flights to maintain my license in Germany. I always wanted to do it again, but a few years ago I found out that there is no way that I could use that wing anymore.
It feels just wrong just to through it away. If you have some ideas, please shoot!

Ages ago I saw a group of military helicopters while I was flying 1000’ above a local mountain. I started a series of very tight high banked turns flashing my bright undersides, they turned.
