Das Motto des Internationalen Tages der Pressefreiheit am 3. Mai lautet heuer: „Eine Zukunft in Frieden gestalten: Pressefreiheit für Menschenrechte, Entwicklung und Sicherheit fördern.“

Während bei der World Press Freedom Day Global Conference am 04. und 05. Mai in Lusaka, Sambia, über diese Themen gesprochen wird, spinne, stricke und häkle ich im Atelier Mitzi für die Pressefreiheit: Mit meiner Handspindel stelle ich aus alten Zeitungen Papiergarn her. Daraus entstehen gehäkelte Körbe und gestrickte Stücke.

Actually,I should have a slight creative panic. I was persuaded to stand in for someone at our spring wool festival at short notice. A quick brainstorming session. I will be showing and demonstrating Visible Mending and there will be my crocheted "torques". A colleague rescues me with a damaged item of clothing for the animation. I choose my materials carefully. Before I dared to make #jewellery out of #paperYarn, I wanted to know how robust it is and whether it might rub off the colour. I soaked it in sugared café au lait for 1 hour. It survived. I washed out the coffee, and it survived. So this jewellery can get in the rain without any problems! And of course, I drink my coffee without #paper.😂
