#paperless-ngx — Public Fediverse posts

If you receive a "This writer is closed" in paperless-ngx than your whoosh index is corrupted which is also indicated by `struct.error: unpack requires a buffer of 8 bytes`.
Luckily this can be easily fixed by running `paperless-manage document_index reindex` which only takes a minute, not two.
Luckily the next major version switches from that unmaintained library to a maintained one.

#homelab gurus! I am considering replacing our old #Synology DS1525 with a #TrueNAS, mostly because I want to run #Immich, #Paperlessngx, and #jellyfin on it without having to deal with Syno's out-of-date #Docker implementation.

If you're running TrueNAS, two questions:

1) how hard was it to get automated backups of #Windows and #Linux systems set up? I do appreciate Syno's built-in backup tools.

2) how bad an idea would it be to run these compute loads on the NAS vs a separate compute node? We are *not* heavy users - just the two of us and we're pretty casual about home use, so it feels like loads would be pretty minimal...

Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I've installed #paperlessngx but I'd really like to experiment with some local AI with it.

My server has 16gb of ram, but only 5-6 spare.

I have an Intel Arc with 4GB of memory knocking about somewhere.

I have no idea if that's enough to run #Ollama for something like organising documents and doing ORC.

Has anyone had any mileage with this kind of hardware? I have an Intel i5-13500T CPU if that changes anything.

Arghh!!! #PaperlessNGX removed the split action when the new PDF Editor was added, but the editor is soooo much harder to do splits in. Yes, I like that I can rotate pages, but splitting is a nightmare! 😡

The original editor, had bigger images, and could add splits with a series of clicks in a single dialog. It was a little clunky, but serviceable.

An accidental update from SQLite to PostgreSQL looked like it lost all my documents 😱

`nixos rebuild switch` was not behaving consistently and a build where I had added the `database.createLocally = true;` was added after a successful build, so it didn't actually run PostgreSQL. In desperation, I did an overdue upgrade to NixOS 25.11 and it worked, but I had dozens of documents loaded and when it rebuilt, it found and used that new option...

Hat hier jemensch #paperlessngx auf einer Synology am Laufen und kann mich zu einer funktionierenden yml verweisen? Ich krieg das nicht gebacken, hab mir schon aus zig verschiedenen Anleitung etwas zusammengebaut, aber ich komm nicht weiter als bis zu einem Server Error 500 nach ein paar Minuten.

350 Dokumente in #PaperlessNGX packen macht richtig Spaß, wenn die Korrespondenten, Dokumententypen und Tags schon einigermaßen sitzen. Für die meisten ist bisher gar keine weitere Korrektur nötig. ❤️

250 MBit/s Down, 100 Mbit/s Up would have been amazing... 20 years ago.

Chi has 10 Gbit/s symetric and doesn't even pay twice what I pay.

I hate being the bottleneck.

Natürlich nur über die Haus-KI auf einem MacBook-Pro mit M1max und ministral-3 unter ollama. Kein Bit hat das interne Netz verlassen.
