    Most airlines still won't issue tickets in Apple or Google wallets. Instead, they give you two options: print and waste paper (making you feel guilty), or download our beautiful apps, where we can make even more upselling of shitty sandwiches on board and bomb you with notifications every two hours about a marvellous weekend in a forgotten city in Lithuania.

    Unexpectedly, you could expect this behaviour from Ryanair, but actually, no. This behaviour is especially common among flag carriers, whereas low-cost carriers usually offer on-device wallet support.

    If you receive a "This writer is closed" in paperless-ngx than your whoosh index is corrupted which is also indicated by `struct.error: unpack requires a buffer of 8 bytes`.
    Luckily this can be easily fixed by running `paperless-manage document_index reindex` which only takes a minute, not two.
    Luckily the next major version switches from that unmaintained library to a maintained one.

    So, I bought a printer/scanner, installed paperless-ngx on my little server, and just scanned a good pile of documents and tagged them.

    Now throwing away a pile of paper and feeling good.

    Ui - das hat jetzt aber gut geklappt! Mein "Hauptscanner" ist zwar ein alter Scansnap, aber ich habe dazu noch so eine "Billig HP Envy inspire" Drucker-Scanner-Kombi. Hängt zwar im WLAN, kann aber _eigentlich_ nicht ohne PC auf Netzwerklaufwerk scannen.

    Ein Docker-Skript auf meinem Raspberry Pi macht das nun aber möglich! Es erscheint im HP-Display ein zusätzlicher "Computer" = der Paperless-ngx-Pfad auf dem Raspberry Pi.

    Die Scans landen im PDF-Format (!) auf dem Pfad.

    Mit NAPS2 lassen sich unter Linux sehr bequem analoge Dokumente direkt vom Scanner samt OCR Texterkennung als PDF erstellen.

    In Kombination mit einem Tool wie Recoll kann man so alle Dokumente digital lokal verwalten und hat sämtliche Metadaten direkt in den Dateien, nicht in der DB eines komplexen Dokumentenmanagementsystems.

    Vorteil: Kleiner Footprint, keinerlei Server, auch kein lokaler Server notwendig, kein Docker, kein Podman, keine Linux Shell im Einsatz.
    Das Backup und Langzeitsicherung der digitalisierten Dokumente ist damit so simpel gehalten wie möglich und gleichzeitig durch das PDF Format mit eingebetteter, unsichtbarer Textebene auch maximal kompatibel mit allen Betriebssystemen.

    Aktuell ist viel im Hintergrund bei @Anoxinon im technischen Umbau. Vorrangig noch Verwaltungs-IT Themen wie #sso via #authentik und #paperless-ngx usw.

    Ein möglicher neuer Dienst für die breite Öffentlichkeit wäre aber bspw. #fedisuite ( @Sliven Danke für den Tipp.).

    Ich würde den aber gerne vor testen und habe daher unter fedisuite.wg.waima.nu/ mal eine Instanz aufgesetzt; IPv6 Only; Gerne belasten; Offene Registrierung.

    It's surreal: From what I have tested, the *only* way to decide what documents a user can see, is who the owner of a document is or who can view it. First, there is no UI to see who the owner or viewer of a document is, you can just search for documents of a specific owner. Then, you can assign an owner to selected documents - a document can just have *one* owner. Conclusion: It's impossible to share certain documents with/between non-superusers. 🤷

    First road bump with for me today. The permission system is weird. It seems impossible to make a user that can just view documents with a certain tag or from a certain correspondent. Apparently one needs to manually (or automatically on document addition) add that user as "owner". And paperless doesn't seem to have a link sharing system for *multiple* documents or a specific search. Only for individual documents. Meh. 🫤

    Ugh. I‘ve been debugging my #Paperless install for ages. Most files would remain in queue forever, without any errors in the logs. Manually adding the files again took multiple approaches for the files to finally be processed. Turns out, Paperless doesn‘t like to share a #Redis service. So starting a second Redis docker container on my #Unraid server solely for Paperless finally solved the issue. The joys of #selfhosting 😖
