  1. Came across this image in my timeline and thought, these are Union, not Confederate (the traitors) because we tore down, or the City preemptively removed the statue of the traitors on the other side of #Baltimore's Wyman Park.

My #Panoramio description was too terse. These are to the pro-Union (the "North", not the trade group).

  2. Random photo from the closed #Panoramio site showing the JHU Newsletter office, once the Wyman Estate gatehouse.
Photo by "Monument City", also one of #Baltimore City's nicknames.

  3. Very cool, the simplify path result kept street addresses, at least in reasonable steps. The vector layer of images from 2010 hikes is keyed by the #Panoramio link, not the newer #Panoramax app. Each integer can be used to lookup the place because archive.org snagged them in an easy to relocate way, i.e. for place 39977288 enter that value at the end of the URL. Ta da.

The date part is irrelevant somehow.

  4. From the photo archives - trail work in western #Virginia #USA One low-res field shot is still visible in the archives from #Panoramio, the other is not, except as a thumbnail/link visible on the first page. Which may render second because my bad.

  5. Random photo of the day, once posted to #Panoramio. Historic Route 66, New Mexico.

Can't locate this one on archive.org at the moment (*), so here's a different southwest U.S. image from the same trip - web.archive.org/web/2016101222

Lorsque l'UNESCO a annoncé l'ajout des Deer Stones en Mongolie à la liste des sites du patrimoine mondial, j'ai mis à jour le dossier Mongolie et enregistré un fichier KML distinct.

  7. A sunrise image from of the camp chapel area, previously sent to #Panoramio and now in my virtual sights for mapping small scale areas with #QGis.

Some metadata here in the archived uploaded image from 2013: web.archive.org/web/2016102511

  8. A Baltimore "Historic" #Trails map for the #FOSS4GNA conference, to orient nonresidents. Trail 1 goes from Patterson Park "ova east" straight into downtown, then hooks around to Fort Avenue heading for the national "shrine" of Fort McHenry. A 5-mile hike, one way, though you need to put thought into returning from whence you came (I did it by bus in 2010).
The numbers correspond to #Panoramio imagery, now reachable via thank you, archive.org.

Google's deletion of #Panoramio create 5,000 dead links in my global #KML #placemarks file, all carefully selected #archaeology images. A lot of lost work for me, most still not restored.
    jqjacobs.net/kml/
I did archive every lo-res and hi-res image myself though and have a KML copy using the images on my drive.
The big loss was the best archaeology #photo research resource on the #WWW disappeared.

  10. Something in the cropping fundamentally changes this image. I originally gave this to Google through #Panoramio but at least archive dot org has a backup [

'Large stump had been worked on by Park maintenance crew not much earlier.'

I've noticed standing stones at #Maya ruins.

Copied the #Panoramio number when saving the photo, searched the #WayBackMachine for panoramio.com/photo/49503411. Same URL for every Panoramio photo, just change the numbers to match other photos. The 2016 cache was just before Google closed down Panoramio.com. Massive #geolocated #archaeology photo base.

A truck passes in front of the once largest #adobe #pyramid. In search of treasure, the river was diverted to erode the monument. A portion rermains.

  15. Still #TombTuesday in #Oregon.
#Sillustani #chullpa, circular stone burial tower near #Puno, #Peru. The #Altiplano around Lake #Titicaca has many chullpas, these are the most impressive. One unique feature at the site is a stone circle. Sillustani is west of the great lake, at Lake Umayo -15.7225, -70.1567.
I lived and worked in #Azangaro, north of the lake, -14.90907, -70.19516.

  16. Looks like 35 of my recovered #Panoramio images have zeroes for the latitude and longitude, sitting out there in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. I should weed those out of my repository.

  17. Today's #Panoramio reveal is a benchmark on a concrete pad in the woods. Apologies as the original is not plumb nor level.
