  1. Ozempic side-effect crisis update:
Still haven't taken Ozempic and I'm seeing day-by-day improvements in my sleep, reduction in my feelings of dread, and a virtual disappearance of my panic attacks. My appetite is increasing, but I'm still only eating small meals (often not much more than snacks) and that may be causing the occasional incidents of low blood glucose. But I'm on top of those, so so far, so good.

  3. How Crochet Helped Me Through Anxiety

More Than Just Yarn and a Hook "Crochet is a magical piece of peaceful bliss." It may sound like a simple statement, but for me, crochet became so much more than a hobby. It became a way to quiet my mind during some of the most difficult years of my life. It helped me through anxiety, grief, and trauma. It gave me something to focus on when fear seemed to take over everything else. And eventually, it became part of the foundation of Duffney's Bird Barn. My crochet journey began in 2015 […]

  6. Togetherness Is Overrated

Think back on your most memorable road trip. Everyone else seems to love parties and gatherings. Love them. Feed off them. They say things like “the energy is amazing” and “you should come, it’ll be fun.” That sentence alone makes my shoulders tighten. Crowds are chaos with a soundtrack. Too many voices competing for dominance, too many eyes, too much unspoken pressure to perform being Normal and Social and Chill. I don’t get it. I never have. Standing in a packed room while […]

  7. CW: Mental Health, Therapy

Did my second session of #EMDR today. It’s such a different mode of #therapy compared to #CBT or #TalkTherapy or #GroupTherapy I’ve done in the past.

I’m very hopeful this will help resolve the emotional rollercoaster I’ve been on in adulthood and get back to living the life I want to live.

  9. CW: Mental Health

Why is dealing with #depression and #anxiety and #PanicAttacks and #MentalHealth so exhausting?

This isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve got my support system. I’m OK. Not posting for sympathy.

I know that every time I’ve had a mental health “flare”, if you will, I come out better and better on the other side of it.

But it’s just all-consuming at the most inopportune times; my goodness. Don’t isolate if you’re going through it. If anyone needs help finding a therapist I’m a pro. ❤️

  11. My mom wanted us to get groceries earlier today for her. I was already worried about it because I wasn’t very awake yet. I began getting more and more anxious while driving because I obviously didn’t want to get into an accident. When we actually got to the store I stayed in the car and tried to not have a panic attack. By the time Wren got back out with the food I was somewhat more awake so driving home was a little easier. My stepdad pulled me aside later and was asking if I’m okay & how I should let them help me. He was saying that the attacks are going to get worse as I get older if I don’t get help for them. I really do want therapy again but I’ve been putting it off for various reasons. I miss my therapist that I had for several years. I hope that she’s doing okay. I was supposed to get an autism assessment done where she works but by the time I was called about an appointment I had just moved to a new state. Part of me doesn’t want the assessment now because people will always treat someone who’s diagnosed with autism poorly. Not to mention that Trump is not helping with the ableism with the dumb things he’s said lately about being on the spectrum.

  14. A young woman stopped me on the street and I instantly started having a social anxiety induced panic attack, she asked me where I got my boots and then told me, "they're fantastic" with a coy smile before continuing on. You see, me, random people talking to you isn't always bad news!

  16. I did something this week that was very difficult for me. I spoke to HR about my PTSD and panic attacks. They were very supportive. I brought up a colleague’s name since she supported me during a panic attack at work last week. They were happy to hear I had support and asked if anyone else in the office knew. I’m grateful to have people at work supporting me.

I don’t know when my body will finally believe the trauma is over. It’s truly exhausting.

  18. Self Care Plan Day 1 — Yesterday my #anxiety got the better of me and I spent 14 hours in rolling #panicattacks. Took myself to the doctor this morning, cleared my calendar when I got home, stared out the window, read, snoozed, and snuggled my dog. Cried, cried some more, and took a bath. #selfcare

  19. Managed to feel well enough a week after my birthday party to do stuff today. Knew the stress and indulgence would knock me out for a bit. Not this long.

    Still worth it…

  21. Angry tourists shouting because they want to walk through dead grandmas garden while I burn the thousands of bills she kept.

A bonfire on their route isn’t good for their daughters health.

    ITS NOT A PUBLIC FOOTPATH!

This is why I hardly even go outside.

  22. Might try and leave the house today. #PanicAttacks can do one. I need a walk.
